I voted Below Average.

I just found it underwhelming and the ending (and regeneration) a bit of a cop-out.

I liked Martha being soldier girl, Davros recognising Sarah Jane, the movie-like soundtrack, Catherine Tate nearly out-acting everyone (then along came a Wilf) and the idea of Davros being a pet (Walkies, boy! Walkies!).

Didn’t like Earth flying home (what next - Pluto being eaten?). That Caans prediction of death turned out to be metaphorical. Jackie Tyler being underused. The hand-Doctor grinning like a lunatic and not doing much.

My big problem was Donnas fate. We’ve been building up to this all season. The Ood were mournful about it. The girl at the Shadow Proclamation was apologetic about it. River Song dismayed over it. And this terrible, terrible fate? She became an ordinary Londoner again. I think I feel mildly insulted!

the 2nd Doctor did they really need him? other than for Rose I mean.

lets start with the regeneration from 10th to 11th, he puts some of the energy into the hand, did they really need the 2nd Doctor, could Donna have not become DoctorDonna just by touching the hand, or the hand touching her?

that was fucking fantastic! i literally punched the air when Jacky and Mickey beamed in and zapped the Daleks and i was laughing and clapping like crazy when DoctorDonna disabled the Daleks weapons and sent them spinning.

and that, ladies and gentlemen was the threefold man: doctor one, doctor two and DoctorDonna.

i cried when Wilf told the Doctor that he would look up in the sky and remember the Doctor on her behalf.

i wonder if Martha and Mickey will wind up at Torchwood now...

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED all the companions manning the console and Doctor One telling Jacky to stay back.

loved the bit where Rose said 'she's good' about Martha.

i don't think i can complain about anything other than wondering why Liberia, but i guess that was the 'strategic location' bit...

didn't think i was gonna get to see it, cuz we had a damn power-cut at 17:15 and it only came back at 18:36! then went again for a coupla minutes during Confidential...

He was there for Rose and only for Rose - that was reason enough for me.

I had damp cheeks when he told her he had one heart, and one life he could spend with her, I'm an old romantic that way!

Not going to look at this thread for fear of spoilers (watching the ep right now), but I wanted to say ... that German accent of the Daleks is horrible. :guffaw:

Forgot to mention; also loved the Doctor telling off Donna's mum a bit at the end. That was nice.

Also, it was a nice touch for the Doctor to ask Gwen about her lineage, and him and Rose remeniscing for a second about the Charles Dickens episode.

pretty sure Martha will join Torchwood, would like to see Mickey on SJA, there is a relationship between her & Sara, which needs exploring, and its maybe the only one he will get any respect ever.

Well given that Survivors is only 6 eps and Torchwood is only 5, she should be able to to do both.

Loved the brilliant twist involving Caan, brilliantly done. Then again, why bring back Davros at all to create a new Dalek race if he wanted the Daleks dead in the first place. I know that the things insane, but that's just stupid.

Davros needed Daleks to do his plan and Caan needed Davros to do his plan so The Doctor could wipe them out.

Caan wants to wipe out the Daleks after seeing them kill billions of aliens.
Caan rescues Davros as part of his master plan.
Davros makes new Dalek empire which goes about exterminating millions.
Caan reveals that his plan was for the Doctor to wipe out the Daleks.

I'm still having trouble understanding the logic in Caan's Master Plan.

Exactly. The whole thing was fucking retarded and just an excuse for Russell T. Davies to cram in as many characters as he possibly could for his grand finale. Why would the TARDIS be designed to be driven by six people? It's designed specifically for one Time Lord.

They spend all this time setting up the end of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE. The day is saved by Donna receiving the Doctor's mind, fair enough. That was foreshadowed and was justifiable technobabble. But they save the day by throwing a few switches. The ENTIRE UNIVERSE and they throw a few switches, like in every other fucking RTD episode. RTD's utter lack of ingenuity or imagination popped out of the TV and gave us a nice mouth-fucking. I was fisted by his incompetence. Awful.

I hope so, the way torchwood is for S3, it needs new characters that dont need to be set up, Martha could do that easily, so could Mickey.

Freema's accent is somewhat passable though. Still, she basically sounds like one of those speech programs from the nineties.

I was waiting for the anti RTD crowd to arrive, your a bit late where you held up by having to come up with so many words :p

I don't think I've ever been in such a quandary about how to rate an episode! I voted above average and already I'm thinking I was harsh!

Poor Donna, she was so selfless. Not intimidated or threatened by the previous companions .... unlike some. :) I really don't think we've seen the last of her. If Clone Doctor can't regenerate.... can Donna? Did I miss something about that?

Rose, supposedly gone for good. Maybe this time she will be, it'll be easier for Moffat to leave her than it was for RTD. I'm glad she gets the angry Doctor to temper and the infamous three word phrase wasn't uttered out loud. Good on you RTD.

It was good, I need to watch it again, I guess I just felt it didn't live up to the cliffhanger.

Sorry, where has that ever been stated? There's nothing in the original series that addresses it. Yes, the novels state one Time Lord and one TARDIS are bonded together, but we're not counting the novels unless they make a decent episode, are we? In series, the whole "one pilot but you should have six" thing answers a lot of questions as to why the Doctor is such a crap pilot.

I quite liked that.. all the TARDISes we've seen were piloted by rogue Time Lords (Rani, Monk, Master). The Tardis as a 6+ man warship (and not looking like a blue box) would be an awesome sight indeed. I bet a single TARDIS could be made to appear as huge as the Crucible.

To be honest, I do quite like the megalomaniac scale of Dalek and Time Lord abilities. We are made to believe Daleks and Time Lords are far beyond lesser powers like the Sontarans, Cyberman and Judoon. And if you fight a Time War, moving a planet around should be a piece of cake, right? "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" in practice (and done on television budget to boot!).

The one costant about the tardis is the console has six sides, why would anyone design a ship designed to be flown by one person, where that one person couldnt reach all the controls?

Having a tardis needing to be flown by six people makes perfect sence, remember teh doctor stole it, and stuggles to get it anywhere hes meant to be traveling to?

I am sure I read the six pilots thing on wikipeda years ago.

I loved the German Daleks, partly because it harkens back to Terry Nation's original idea of the Daleks as a Nazi allegory, and partly because it made me wonder about French Daleks... which in turn made me think of Bill Bailey's Doctor Qui spoof.

"Exterminezvous!!! Exterminezvous!!!"

Not much to say that hasn't already been said before on here, superb ending to a superb season. I actually found myself clapping and cheering at the kiss scene with Doc2 and Rose, thinking finally Rose has got Him. Just wondering do you think a novelised spin-off series could work with those two, maybe call it the John Smith Adventures or Chronicles or something. Now I'm not really into reading so much but I think doing a spin-off this way would probably do well and would give us an insight on what's going in this parallel universe.

Loved how everything that we saw throughout the season came together in the end like the DoctorDonna thing and also the way they tied in Gwen with Gweneth from the Unquiet Dead, (which is something I asked about way back then when Torchwood started). I think it'll take an awfull lot of SFX and build up to come up with an episode to rival this one, it just doesn't seem possible to beat, imo.
