Canon includes the Animated Series. According to both The Making of Star Trek by Gene Roddenberry and the Animated Series episode "The Counter-Clock Incident", the first Enterprise Captain is ROBERT APRIL. There is NO mention of anybody named Jonathan Archer, and no mention of any character who could be Jonathan Archer.

For example... VULCAN terrorists? ....
I don't even like the characterization they did of Zefram Cochrane in First Contact. It certainly doesn't mesh with what we learned about Cochrane in the TOS series "Metamorphosis" when Kirk found Cochrane and the Companion. Yet Enterprise favors the movie version of Cochrane over the TOS version..
cochrane: I was an old man.
jim: You were what?
cochrane: Well, I don't know how it did it, but the Companion rejuvenated me, made me young again, like I am now.
Enterprise didn't need to canonize parts of The Animated Series, as the animated shows were already canon.I just thought it was funny that Timewalker was using TAS as evidence that ENT violated canon, when ENT canonized parts of TAS.
The Companion obviously thought Cochrane was too tall, so she shortened him, as well.and you didnt pay too much attention to metamorphis which gives a reason for the differences in apperance.
the companion not only healed cochrane but she made him young again.

Um, assuming the whales were able to squeeze THROUGH the Guardian, THEN what? Flopping around on an arid, rocky planet's surface? Beam 'em up? To what? Did they fill up a tank on the BoP before even arriving, or what?
With the story they went with, the Guardian could never have worked!

Picard has some hair too. And there are bald male Deltans in ST: TMP, ST IV and ST VI.But it's also obvious to me that the writer wasn't that familiar with Deltans, either -- it's only Deltan women who are bald -- Deltan males do have hair!![]()

Are you kidding me? You're trying to convince us that they screwed up with Cochrane, and the best that you can come up with is that the new actor was "too tall"?The Companion obviously thought Cochrane was too tall, so she shortened him, as well.and you didnt pay too much attention to metamorphis which gives a reason for the differences in apperance.

Huh, what does that have to do with anything? It's a different actor. Deal with it.
There was a rumour that the last episode of TNG s6 was going to involve the E-D being recalled to earth to be decommissioned and renamed as the 'Queen mary', along the way there was to be a battle, inh which the stardrive is destroyed, and the saucer was to crash land on a planet a la GEN.
anyone else remember this/add anything too it?
I'd love to hear opinions or speculation on this,
kind regards,
CDP
It comes down to the difference in quality. Cromwell is much more charismatic, and the character much better written, in First Contact, so I don't mind the recasting. However, Robin Curtis was not, and the character was not, so I do in TSFS.The Companion obviously thought Cochrane was too tall, so she shortened him, as well.![]()

OMG, the Saavik from TSFS and TVH also looked (and behaved) entirely different than the Saavik from TWOK!!! And there was not even a Companion to explain it!!!!!!

Kirk: Did you change your face, Lieutenant?
Saavik II: It's still regulation, Admiral.
No, that's not all I can "come up with." But it remains my personal opinion that yes, they messed up Cochrane's character. Are you kidding me? Kirstey Alley was a terrific Saavik. Robin Curtiss was crap. Looks have far less to do with it than interpretation. Obviously Curtiss never read the part about Saavik being HALF-ROMULAN. Saavik was supposed to have emotions -- emotions expressed by her Romulan influence, but that her Vulcan mentors had taught her to try to suppress. The Companion obviously thought Cochrane was too tall, so she shortened him, as well.![]()
