Friends: The Movie

While there were still many funny parts afterwards, I feel the show jumped the shark (or "nuked the fridge" as I'm now fond of saying) when Joey fell in love with Rachel. That was just horrifying to watch.

Yeah, I agree, that was a little jumpy.

I have discovered that Friends has a rewatchability factor close to zero! WOW!

Really? I find it one of the most rewatchable comedies around. I've seen most eps probably 4-5 times now in reruns...I always put it on when I'm making dinner and eating, and I find it just as entertaining as I always did. It's the actors who made the show what it is - truly one of the best ensemble casts in the history of television.

All that said...I agree that it ended well, and a movie would be horrible. I hope this does not happen....

I watched the show occasionally when it was on the air, mostly because a girl I was interested in at the time loved it. Then in reruns because my sister insisted on watching it. On the whole though, I found it to be superficial, saccharine, and annoying. Yeah there were a few funny things here and there but I still believe Frasier was the superior comedy at the time. (Though, I still laugh at the scene when Joey, Chandler and Ross are trying to explain Hanukkah to Ben and when they finish, Ross is dressed up as some weird animal, (aardvark?), Chandler is dressed as Santa Claus, and Joey is Superman. Chandler looks over to Joey and says, "My favorite part was when Superman flew all the Hebrews out of Egypt."

More power to them if they make a movie (because as we know if it does get made, it will be because the networks/studios are looking to make some bank), but its just another vastly overrated show.

I also find it highly rewatchable. I own all 10 seasons on DVD and never fail to laugh when I watch them, even though I've seen the episodes so many times. Some seasons and episodes are better than others, but overall I love rewatching it.

It should have ended in season 5 or 6 and then they just kept redoing storylines... hmmmm.... just like Stargate. You must be Stargate fans.

The movie they should make is "Old Friends," a recast with a bunch of senior citizens set in 2050. Have them all end up in the same retirement community.

I wouldnt mind a film, I recon it revolve around some or all of them turning 40.

Which anyone in their late 30s will tell you isnt something most people look forward to.

Thank god!

Who watches Friends anymore, anyways...?

Frasier on the other hand.... Frasier The Movie: Maris' Revenge ;)

The TV show ended in a perfect movie but I do think a movie will get made sooner or later and it will make a bucket loads of money and get panned by critics/fans alike.

Saying all of that I would watch it and Il ove this bit of the news story...

Aniston was hesitant about portraying Rachel again and some thought that she might be too famous to step back into the role.

Also bigdaddy time to play a different tune ey

Sarah Jessica Parker appeared in how many rom-coms after Sex and the City ? She rarely did anything else. That movie hardly bombed.

Aniston has pretty much been the same. She's just playing Rachel with different haircuts.

Now that I would watch!

You know, I was going to say something, but these quotes will suffice.

...

Well, okay. I think Frasier had an excellent conclusion, so while I'd love a film regardless (and am far more likely to see it than a Friends picture) I wouldn't be lobbying hard for it. Also, although presumably the hypothetical Friends picture would forego a laugh track, would it do anything else to appear cinematic aside from length and probably more camerawork?

Also, extending a half-hour sitcom into a feature film can be difficult structurally. The Simpsons Movie felt overlong.
