I've been wanting an XBOX for a while to supplement my Wii. So finally I had the capital to make that a reality and got one, bought Grand Theft Auto, and Call of Duty 4, also a 12 month gold membership on XBOX Live.

I'll add that I played COD and the game is awesome. So XBOX 360 vets, any sage advice to send my way.

^Keep it cool!!!!

I've heard nothing but good things about Mass Effect even though I have not bought it myself.

Purchase, play, and enjoy the following:
  • BioShock
  • Bully: Scholarship Edition (unless you already have it for Wii, of course)
  • Gears of War
  • Halo 3
  • Mass Effect
  • The Darkness
Definitely make sure you keep your Xbox in an area where it can be well-ventilated.

I read a rumor that the 360 is dropping $50 next week.

The two games you have right now should last you a while. If you've got some friends willing to play Rock Band, that's a must have.

Mass Effect is a MUST if you like sci-fi, which I'm guessing you do since you frequent this board. :)

I also recommend Lego Indy. Lego Star Wars is good too, but I'm not a fan of Star Wars so all the jokes would have been wasted on me.

There are also a ton of Xbox Live Arcade games out there, all of which have free demos. I recommend Carcassonne, Pac Man CE, and Geometry Wars for starters.

JonathonWally, do you know what the biggest differences are between Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2?

Also, in terms of the "Lego" games, the one thing Star Wars has over Indiana Jones are the different powers. The Indiana Jones characters pretty much have to resort to punching. In Star Wars you can use the force!

download some demos and see what you like... it's also a good way to not have to purchase full games... i had plenty of fun with the demo of fight night 3 and dead rising, didn't feel the need to purchase those games. also, check out the crackdown demo.

Best advice-don't leave it on if you aren't using it. Keep it cool and ventilated.

If you talk smack on line-be a smart s***talker. Don't use obscenities about moms, homosexual references etc. There's more than enough out there already.

Don't throw up friend invites willy-nilly, pick and choose carefully. Your best bet is to play at roughly the same time each day/night you go on. Then your friends are around regularly. Having a friend who only plays in the daytime when you're only on at night is pointless.

Always play a demo before buying. Always. It will keep you from wasting $ in the long run.

Be very careful with your headset-those things like to snap at the headband right above the earpiece. Trust me on this one.

There are game websites that post user counts for specific games(Bungie posts for Halo, for example) This can help you see what people are playing and aid in the decision to buy a new game.

Buy a spare rechargeable battery pack and keep one all charged up and ready to go. I ended my 32 game win streak on COD4 because my battery died and I spent five minutes looking for some double AAs to switch out.

Put on the headphones and try to think of as many ways to call someone gay as possible!

The two games you already have will keep you busy for awhile. COD4 was probably the best action game experience I had this year. A very well made, exciting game.

Rock band is a game you should look in to if you're at all in to the genre. Great fun, particularly if you're a fan of the music included in the game. Even if you're not, the game might make you a fan.

Mass Effect I liked, but I'm not sure it's one of those games that everyone would like. If you've ever played knights of the old republic then you have an idea of what its like.

If you're at all in to classic western rpg's, there's a fantasy rpg called Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. (Essentially a Dungeons and Dragons type of world) Basically you make your character, pick a class, then get dumped in to a living world and can do whatever you want. There's a main quest to follow, which you could start as soon as you start the game at level 1. Or you could do what I did and start the main quest when you're already a world renown hero and gladiator arena champion with a house in every major city in the world. Mini quests abound, and there are a bunch of organizations you can join with their own quests, like the fighters guild and the brotherhood of assassins.

If you ever wanted to play a futuristic grand theft auto with a super enhanced cyborg, then Crackdown might be good for you. Particularly since it's pretty old and I'm sure you can find it for cheap. You level up enough and you can throw cars and leap from building to building as you rain rockets down on the street.

Bioshock was good, but a little disappointing for me. A great start but ultimately doesn't really deliver. A good rpg and interesting underwater city to explore.

Halo is Halo. A fun cinematic fps with entertaining enemies to kill. The AI may not be brilliant, but they're smart enough to be satisfying to kill on the harder levels.

If you have absolutely any interest in Boxing, then fightnight is a great game to pick up. It's out there for cheap.

I hear the Rainbow Six:Vegas games are good tactical shooters if you're interested in that. If you're more interested in squad based tactical shooters then there's the ghost recon games.

If spending money on games is an issue, save up until Sept. 16. That's when The Force Unleashed comes out.

Mass Effect for an RPG.
BioShock for a single player FPS.
Battlefield: Bad Company for a multiplayer FPS.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 or Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 for a co-op FPS.
Rock Band for pure awesome. :)

Oh, so we reboot the Gamer Tag thread?

And MADDEN 2008

JonathonWally, do you know what the biggest differences are between Rainbow Six Vegas and Vegas 2?

The Terrorist hunt mode?

VEGAS 2...

Has more weapons and a great system to ability to customise your online character. Also CO-OP is intergrated better but down to 2 players not 4 and also the graphics are improved plus all achievements can be done on SP (including CO-OP) or MP.

However VEGAS 1...

The T.hunt is better due to a better balanced AI and the CO-OP is 4 way plus the story is far far better and longer than VEGAS 2.

I have a review for each game on gamespot if your you want too read them(8.5 V1 & 7.5 for V2)
