So, will we see Klingons?

This is just another of my 'speculative' threads, as I don't recall reading or hearing anywhere confirmation that J.J. plans to have any Klingons in STIX.

That aside, there's nothing that would violate canon by having them make an appearance in this pre-TOS era, so what are the odds? Since this appears to be a serious attempt to make a 'definitive' Star Trek movie, it would just seem wrong somehow not for there to at least be one Klingon making an appearance.

I know they've been used to death, but I'd like to see if Abrams would have them looking the same as post-TOS Klingons have appeared, or if they'd try to re-invent the wheel with this seminal race.

So: Yes to Klingons, or no to Klingons?

I'm fairly certain it was confirmed on Trekmovie that we are getting Klingons in the new movie.

I'd also be suprised if we didn't at least see a bird of prey or battlecruiser in that scene...

As long as they don't speak and the only one we see is one 400 metres away from the action.

I'd quite like to see JJ's take on Klingons.

For me, I want to see the Klingons as a dangerous enemy again. In TOS, Klingons were the bad guys. They were cruel. They were vicious.

From TNG onwards they never had that sense of danger. I know they were allies, but at times they could be too OTT as a species. They were far too broad. Michael Dorn did some great stuff, but the notion that they were always drunk and fighting amongst themselves didn't sit too well with me.

I want EVIL klingons.

Watch out for the Cardassians. AKA 24th century Klingons. ;)

OK, that's pretty much my take on it as well. I guess I actually missed reading they'd be in there, but I'm glad to hear it's pretty much confirmed.

I'd love to see a modern rendering of the classic D-7 cruiser in this movie.

:techman:

I believe there's a scene with a Klingon being assimilated by a Borg drone. Or maybe it was a Klingon Borg drone who assimilates old Spock.

I hate Klingons - tuff acting weaklings!

I Sooo hope we dont see Klingons, The remind me of the biker gang from the clint eastwood movies - any which way but loose and any which way you can. Getting around acting tuff supposedly the ultimate warriors who live for battle - but always manage to get the crap beaten outa them!!!

Re: I hate Klingons - tuff acting weaklings!

Ah, makes me think of The Simpsons:

Elderly Kirk: AGAIN with the Klingons?!?!?

/facepalm

In order to fit with canon, they would HAVE to appear as TOS style Klingons. Didn't anybody see "Affliction" and "Divergence"? The Klingon's discrepancy in appearance has been canonically explained, and any Klingons appearing after the 4th season of Enterprise but before The Motion Picture would have to look like the TOS Klingons.

It showed some of the Klingons changing, not all of them. They can still do ridged Klingons without any canon violations (assuming the producers even care about that in this regard).

Re: I hate Klingons - tuff acting weaklings!

The best option would be to limit the Klingon usage to the ships and a communication with no visual image of the actual Klingons. You avoid the urge to turtlehead them, and no one is upset over that c-word!

Some of the Klingons should be orange, as a result of further experimental attempts at closing the ridged/smooth gap, with an additional side effect in some rare cases.
