Non-Trek work from me...the Galactica and Vipers

I was rewatching the original BSG the other day and got a "wild hare" to see how close I could get with DOGA...and it turned out a heck of a lot better than I thought it would.

I had never heard of DOGA until I read this thread.

Are your models constructed from 3D primitives, or did you make them through box modeling or something similar? Just curious...

In any case, they look pretty cool.

I used the parts and textures that came with DOGA, then used it's tools to change their size and proportions until I got what I wanted...

Thanks to the OP, I've been meaning to try this out and now that I've seen this I decided to finally go a download it.

Many Thanks and nice job on the Galactica.

Thanks!

Here's a tip to help you get started...when adding textures (they're called Pallates in DOGA), one trick to really get the textures to look good is to increase their "emphasis" on the Palllate "Textures" tab. I usually use between 130-150% emphasis on "hull" textures to get a nice sharp texture complete with faux shadows.

Other than that, just play with the settings and decide for yourself what works the best for what you want to do.

Have fun!

I just fooled around with it for an hour or so and this is what I came up with.

It's alright, and I'm not sure if the L2 & L3 packages are worth paying for in features, but I was having issues with lighting rendered images and the motion feature wasn't intuitive to me just at first glance.

Regardless, this is a great program for amateur modelers to get their ideas on the screen.

I blame my friend for pushing me for more...here's a RTF scene featuring my IMPROVED Galactica, the Colonial Movers ship and the Mineral Ship.
