Vote for SEVEN favorite Muppets

Oscar the Grouch was always my favorite.

Also liked:

Snuffalufagus
Grover
The Count
Barkley
The Two-Headed Monster
The Martians

Didn't really watch Sesame Street much though from what I can recall. I learned reading and math by the time I was 3, so it was pretty boring after that. I was more of a Muppet Show kid. I do still have my talking Grover doll, though you can't tell what he's saying anymore...

Sesame Street premiered in 1969 and at that time I was around 6 and more concerned about the upcoming "moonshot" than anything else.

And after? Hey I was pushing 7...what did I need THAT crap for? Only later did I realize much of it had humor value. :)

Grover, Kermit, Big Bird, Cookie, Count, Ernie, Guy Smiley.

I'll be really surprised if anyone remembers Don Music and Roosevelt Franklin!

The more I think about it, the BEST Street Muppets were $2-whore Miss Piggie and "Inject directly with cookies" Cookie Monster.

Too bad neither lived very long. :( :(

Elmo (Wonderfully Energetic), Ernie (Really nice guy. Liked the stripey shirt), Cookie Monster (Monsterpiece Theatre), Oscar (Subversive), Kermit (Iconic), Prairie Dawn (Sane) and Grover (Enjoyably Manic).

(The vote for Grover should have gone to the yip-yip aliens, but I didn't notice them until after I voted.)

I'll be really surprised if anyone remembers Don Music...

Was he "My TALENT!!! IT'S RUINED!!!" ?

I quote that guy all the time...!

He's the one that banged his head on his piano whenever he couldn't figure out a song lyric. :guffaw: Parents objected, thinking their kids would imitate him, and he was removed early on, IRRC. :(

ETA- I was wrong, he lasted quite a while, until 1998. So I guess it's not hard for people to remember him!

And is one of three Muppets in that poll who hasn't gotten any votes. Just as well, since I never liked him.

I went with Grover, Ernie, Bert, Kermit, Twiddle Bugs, Two-Headed Monster, and Oscar the Grouch. In that order. Grover and Ernie are my absolute favorites.

Upon further reflection, I might have gone with The Martians or the Honkers over Oscar. I tend to get those two acts mixed up with the Two-Headed Monster. maybe it is the non-traditional communication methods they use.
