Vote for your FIVE favorite Muppets

Kermit all the way. (didn't pay attention and notice that you could vote for 5)

Anyway, always loved Kermit, and he's my avatar for AIM and most other message boards. Just didn't think he "worked" as well here, so went with the Evil Monkey instead...

Hey, M'Sharak, who does your Other vote go to?
Disallowed, I'm guessing. Was primarily a Sesame Street character, and I'm not sure he ever appeared on The Muppet Show. It's what I get for voting in the poll, based on the thread title, instead of reading the fine print.

What part of "The Muppet Show-only Muppets" don't you people get!?
It's the idea of The Muppet Show-only which seems odd to me. If Muppets had started there, maybe it would make more sense, but they had already been around for a number of years beforehand -- Kermit for more than 20 years, at the time The Muppet Show first aired.

This together with another current thread elsewhere is causing me to suspect a Muppet Bias Plot no doubt hatched in Teh Chat or Teh Book of Face, with which some person routinely likes to taunt the rest of us.

Edit:

You're forgetting the Kermit-in-a-TNG-uniform av that vedek loki wore for years.

Who was it for? :p

I was just curious about who were people's favorite Muppets from The Muppet Show. What's so wrong about that?

Nope, it's just me this time. Like I said in the opening post, I've been watching a lot of The Muppet Show.

Someone else wore that avatar but I'm blanking on who.

What, no Derth Nader?!!

;)

I voted:

Kermit
Miss Piggy
Fonzie
Rizzo

and of course, Gonzo!

Groverrrrrrrrr! I always liked him :D

(Hey, weird - the stuff you quoted is gone here.)

Nothing, really -- just bitching :p (though putting "Favorite Muppet Show Muppets" in the thread title really would have been better.)

And you thought everyone was gonna read that. Heh.

(And now the quoted material from your post is back. Hm.)

There was someone who wore it briefly, but it was like loki's uniform. I think he had a name-change for a while, though, didn't he?

Ah, yes, Grover is awesome.

I guess I'll do a Sesame Street poll soon.

Damn, that just happened to me, too. :wtf:

Yeah, I've come to realize that. I didn't do it because I thought it was weird looking and figured I'd be fine as long as I clarified myself in my post. Problem is vBulletin does a number on me because the poll shows up first.

Yeah, silly me!

(And the same thing has happened to me. Bizarre.)

Yeah, probably, although I remember the person who copied it had a different insignia on the uniform. I didn't know loki well, so I didn't know who originated the avatar.

Either way, while I liked it, someone else was obviously already wearing it at the time, so I went elsewhere. I'm now rather attached to the Evil Monkey, anyway. His angry finger-pointing fits well with posting in TNZ. And besides, he wasn't always evil, until that day he came back from taking the Bar Exam and found his wife in bed with with best friend... ;)

God, I loved the Muppet Show. Favorites in descending order:

Statler and Waldorf
Animal
Fozzie
Rowlf
Gonzo

Honorable mention:
Beaker

Kermit, Miss Piggy, Rowlf, Swedish Chef, and Scooter. I still have my Scooter and Fozzie dolls and Piggy puppet somewhere...and my Kermit doll went with me to college. My nephew took him from me, though, and I don't know what happened to him. :(

Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, Beaker and Sam.

Surprised that Sams doing so badly. He easily has the best catchphase (You are all weirdos!).
Also surprised Miss Piggys doing badly, I've always seen Miss Piggy and Kermit as a double act with their she-wants-him-he-doesn't-want-her routine, so I can't see how someone can only vote for one of them, as it takes both of them for the joke to work.

There's a lot more to Kermit than the "joke" of his Hepburn-Tracy relationship with Piggy. He was an established TV personality long before Miss Piggy emerged as a Muppet Show star, his career dating back to the original Muppet TV series Sam and Friends in the '50s.

Kermit -- the original Jim Henson Kermit -- was by far the greatest of the Muppets. He was basically a more outgoing Jim Henson, a very approachable, charming everyman but a great showman too.

Piggy, though... I have mixed feelings about her. I kind of feel sorry for her because she's so deeply insecure and neurotic, and she's okay when she shows that more vulnerable side. But the prima donna facade she hides behind is just so grating and insincere. I never really felt she was good enough for Kermit; though on the other hand, maybe it would take someone of Kermit's sensitivity to understand and put up with her. Except as Kermit has often shown, he doesn't have enough patience for that.

Hooray! More Sam love! I'm also disappointed by how badly he's doing. Where's JAG for crying out loud?! :p

Hey! I know The Land of Gorch, even if I wasn't alive in 1975. :p

(Okay, so I happen to own the first season on DVD...)

The Swedish Chef  , Statler & Waldorf, Animal, Rowlf and Dr Bunsen were the ones I voted for, although I'd have added Beaker & Kermit if I'd more options....
