Vance you amaze me, how did you do it, how? I've got to know how you made the Brenton look good. Seriously, another great schematic. The Brenton was never one of my favorite FASA designs, it always looked liked thrown together filler for the Federation Ship Recognition Manual, but you made it look not just decent but good. Congrats on accomplishing something I would have thought impossible.

Brenton suffers in the FASA books because, other than the saucer and warp engines, there's NO detail at all. It makes the obvious flaw all that much more obvious. Just adding the paneling details to the parts that need it really makes a huge difference in the Brenton's appearance.

Wow, that's very nice. And very flattering. Thank you!

Your image is very close. There are just a few things:

The USS Ireland is actually NCC-1940 :

The 2 sub-hulls on the bottom rear section are too large. You can see in this picture that they have a smaller diameter and are closer to the hull:

The deflector dishes are not the same full size dish as on the Constitution Class. They are one ring size in on your drawing.

The curve at the back of the sub hull is off. Though bringing the bottom up may fix this.

Also the circles you drew in on the outboard sides of the deflectors are actually TMP style photon tubes.

The warp pylons are thicker and they support structure on the inside:

    Thank you again,
    ~D.

P.S. The Karekh Class Courier looks very nice..

A forgotten ship.. how forgotten? Subbie (of STCTCS) doesn't even have it listed! That's pretty damn forgotten!

Looks like most of this can all be fixed with the 'breast reduction', as it were. Also, did you realize the Ireland class overlaps the Bozeman? (NCC-1941). Not sure if you cared about that...

Edit: Refresh the Ireland. I reduced the 'breasts', changed the registration... effectively redrew the entire sub-assembly. I kept the deflector dish the same just to keep consistancy with parts, and also used a TOS-version of the heavy torpedo bay, again to be consistant.

That's not a TOS Akira, that's obviously an evolutionary design based on the classic lines of the NX class Enterprise. Nice new schematics Vance, I'd never seen the Shuttle Courier in my FASA books. Do you know why it was a forgotten design? It looks like a perfect precusor to the runabouts from DS9.

Fortunately, I have the freedom to pretend like ENT never existed, so this is a precursor Akira. :)

Second edition ditched a lot of the ships from first. I'm guessing that the C'Laih was ditched because it wasn't a combat vessel, and a subclass vessel at that. The other ditched vessels were also frieghters, couriers, and the like.

Fortunately EVERYONE has that option and, IMHO, should exercise it FREELY.:) It's a pitty about the dumped ships, some of the most interesting classes are the noncombatants and support vessels. From an enthusiasts point of view, I like the freighters, couriers and science vessels.

Vance, Great job! I've always loved Franz Joseph's Star Fleet HQ design. I always thought it was a much better concept that having Fleet HQ (and the Federation Capitol) on Earth.

Nice work with the starbase -- could you post another 'side' view where one of the pods is one the centerline?

    Thanks.

I started to do it, but the image was already huge, and the 'port' view basically didn't reveal much. :S
