MLB Chatter 2008

I predict a Hank Steinbrenner meltdown soon. Yanks are in last place and just lost two to the boys from across town.

I predict that too. The question is will Hank surpass his father in asshatedness? He's relatively young and has years to hone it.

^ He's had years of serious interning to hone his routine. I expect the asshatedness of the mid-80s out of him!

I'm absolutely looking forward to a Steinbrenner Meltdown. One of those things I missed because of my age, although I read back on them and love it. Too bad George has deterioriated, the Old George would have blown his stack over all the things that have happened since the ALCS in 2004... :D

It will be an epic meltdown when it comes. It seems that Hanks promise to "restore the universe to order" is not working out QUITE as well as he thought.

I cheered for the Yankees for the first time in my life last night as they were playing the Mets. What a shame.

Nice little series for the Mets, and the Red Sox thank you (always nice to see the Yankees spanked). Of course, the way they are playing, bet they wish they could get that makeup game in NOW, rather than waiting until the next matchup, but oh well. Gotta make the Boss happy seeing Johan come in and put down the Yanks, plays well in the papers ;)

Was at a slugfest Sox game yesterday, but thankfully the Sox swept the Brewers. A little disappointed we didn't get to torch Gagne, but maybe another time. Was hilarious to hear the crowd chanting "we want Gagne" in the late innings, though. I was in the first couple rows in the RF corner, so I could see right into the dugout, and Gagne had to be embarassed as hell. He didn't appear to be enjoying the attention :p

Right now the Yankees aren't the team you should be worried about. How about the "don't call them devil" Rays. Who would have thought the little team in Tampa Bay could do so well.

Yay Mets! I love it when they beat the Yankees.

I was at the Stadium last night and we just kicked the Yanks up and down the bronx. We beat them on the field, we outcheered them and take over the stadium and in the 3 fights I saw in the stands and the streets we knocked their fans around as well. Hopefully they can carry this momentum over to ATL tommorow when Big Game Maine takes the mound against Give`em back Glavine.

Somehow, I don't think that "worried' is the right choice of words. Are they playing well? Yeah. I still like the Sox, as constructed, a hell of a lot better. And the Yankees will play better than this, or hire people that will. The Rays are pretty much already playing at Max Power levels.

And congrats to Jon Lester, great game, great story!

I also put no faith in all the "We've turned it around" rhetoric coming out of the Mets. I'm sure that talk will last all the way up until they get beaten in a doubleheader in Atlanta, where they haven't won a game in what feels like 10 years.

Yep - I called that one.

FUCK!

Tragically Brandon Webb's winning streak came to an end tonight. That aside, he pitched a solid game.
