I think this season is one of the better ones. Second only to season one. But someday, when its all done, I am going to watch this show, back-to-back, and make sure it all adds up. There is absolutely no way we can be expected to memorize every piece of info that has come out, especially now, with the months of delays between seasons..

I just hope, when I watch it all back in a compressed period of time, it adds up...

Actually, I just heard the Exec producers on KROQ commenting on that...(see thread)

It will be tough to answer everything, but I think they will get most of the bases covered.

I always thought that this show could spawn a good book. Not an adventure type book, but a book that talked about all of the mysteries, when they were solved and how they were solved. And have a list of each appearance of each mystery. Plus a little known facts page, like one time in the earlier seasons, Sawyer came up to Jack to tell him something and Jack was cutting firewood. Then a few eps later, Jack comes up to Saywer to tell him something and this time Sawyer is cutting the firewood. I think it would be a good read...

I, and a lot of us, have already figured out the big picture here. The island has superpowers. So everyone is fighting over it. Wouldn't you?

The smaller picture items, such as why there is a giant four-toed foot statue on the island, are still up for grabs. I'd imagine a fair number of them will be explained along the way. But it's easy enough to fit those into the big picture, for instance: some ancient Polynesians found the island and sensibly enough concluded it was a god (or home to gods). The statue is left over from their religious sites. Why four toes? Why do the Eastern Island statues look so weird? Because people have imagination.

That's not all there is to it. I sincerely doubt that this all just boils down to Widmore just wanting the Island.

That said, I have faith in the writers to answer most of the questions.

There is no doubt in my mind that everything will be explained by the final scene. They've said a million times they know what they're doing, it's all worked out, they don't introduce something unless they know the resolution. I believe 'em.

That said, some minor side-step things might not get explained. They've already said they won't explain the individual values of the Numbers in the show, but we got that explanation in The Lost Experience anyway.

The thing I can see happening in 2 years when Lost is finished is that many people won't be satisfied with the answers.
It's understandable...I see it like when you try and remember some actor's name. You beat your head trying to recall it on the way home;it's on the tip of your tongue...then you get home, search the net, find his name and then with a slight bit of disappointment." Oh yeah, it's Tom Skerrit." You got your answer, but you just sort of expected someting...more.

If you'd asked me this question in season 2 or early season 3, I would've had a pessimistic answer for you. But lately, particularly since season 4 has started, there definitely feels like there's a momentum to the show, a definite endgame that they are working toward.

I sincerely don't believe when the monster first showed up or we saw our first glimpses inside the Swan station or we saw the 4 toed statue, that the writers knew where they were going with those story elements, but in the last year or so of the show, things have changed. When we saw Jack's first flash forward, the writers knew what led to Jack being in that place, when Ben confronted Charles Widmore in his penthouse, the writers know the details of their relationship. We're working toward answers now.

And at this point, if Lost does provide a satisfying conclusion to what they've set up, it'll go down as one of the greatest stories of all time.

As of the last episode, I think they have an incredible ending planned. Things will come full circle I do believe.
