Picked up our special order copy of Sandra McDonald's The Stars Down Under from Borders tonight (Seems like Borders is reorganizing their store, and Skiffy is being reduced and hidden at the back). I liked The Outback Stars, so I'm glad to see book 2 in the series out. My wife and I are also friends with Sandra, so it's good to support a good author who we actually know.

Also picked up a copy of Casino Royale in that nice trade paperback style that they've rereleased the Fleming Bond books in. I'm slowly collecting them all and replacing the old, beat-up used bookstore editions I have.

I just bought the PS3 game Stranglehold on clearance at a local store. It was the collector's edition that comes with Hard Boiled on Blu-Ray. Funny thing is, though, that the regular version without the movie was priced as $5 more!

The Bloody Crown of Conan by Robert E. Howard.

This volume collects two of Howards longer stories plus the only Conan novel he ever wrote.

Well the suitemates moved to an apartment and took some stuff, so today was a big spending day:
New fridge
New TV
New DVD player
New electric water boiler
Lots and lots of food that will last me... a day.

I recieved my "economic stimulus check" so I decided to do my part to help our struggling economy and finally purchased the DS9 and TOS DVDs.

Last night on Amazon, I discovered that a set of documentaries on Russian writers and composers that I saw long ago on VHS is on DVD.

I bought several - Pushkin, Tolstoy, Pasternak, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky. I'll likely go back for more later...but I'll get through these first and see if I learn anything new.

I bought my mom a body-length massage mat from Bed, Bath & Beyond. My Mom has arthritis, and her neck and shoulders get pretty sore sometimes. I think this will be something she'll like, because she can use it in bed or in a chair.

I ordered:

- Some new tops from American Apparel. (Pornographic advertising and logo free clothing appeals to me)
- A new fan for my bedroom.
- A new Logitech keyboard for work (who won't stump up for a decent one).

Tomorrow I will buy a ticket to see Iron Man and my weekly comic books (and last week's too).

I bought a sweater and a couple of dresses; I needed good spring clothes for work. But there is something I can't wrap my head around. Now, I know that clothes sizes can vary depending on designer, shop, style, cut, even fabric, so that I might be a 4 in one store, and a 6 in another. Usually I am 4 or 6, which translates into small or medium. I don't worry though if a dress runs small and I have to get an 8, or if a sweater runs large and I fit into a 2.
The sweater I bought was a small and one of the dresses was a 6. And the other dress? It looked like it ran small so I tried medium and large, but they didn't fit. I ended up getting the extra large! What's up with that?

Anyway, they're super cute. One dress is a very '50's style, mid-calf, full-skirted deal that ties around the waist and has cap-sleeves and a sort of half collar. The other is purple, button up, collared, and just above the knee. It has great details -- pleats just on the sides of the skirt, and a nicely flattering high waist with a tie. But extra large? That's just crazy!

I couldn't squeeze into a size 4 when I was 4.

If find it depends on the quality of the item. Some labels like to save money by using less fabric which means smaller fits. I wish we could buy clothes the way men do - by actual measurements instead of these ridiculous sizes.

Rush's "Snakes & Arrows Live" double CD. Not exactly cheap, but worth every penny....

I see women's clothes sizes are as inconsistent in the US as they are here. My sister moans about this all the time.

Do what I do, just buy several identical outfits.

We get to buy clothes that way? I tend to bring a tape measure to my (infrequent) visits to clothing stores. EN 13402 might change things (you'd think they'd have thought of something like it a century earlier)
