MLB Chatter 2008

Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News agrees, SmoothieX:

Clemens and Hardin were going to bully everybody and roll over everybody, and how has that worked out for both of them? Clemens never should have gone on "60 Minutes" and never should have gone to the Rayburn Building for those hearings and neither one of those decisions may have been the dumbest he has made - the dumbest may have been this lawsuit against McNamee.

Because when you go after somebody the way Clemens has gone after McNamee, there is this one word that hits you harder than Mike Piazza used to hit Clemens, at least before Clemens tried to bully him with a fastball up in his eyes. And the word that ends up in your eyes if you are the plaintiff is "discovery."

We are just starting the discovery phase with Clemens, who is too arrogant to drop this suit, the way he was too arrogant to stay away from Congress and a possible perjury rap. Mindy McCready is just leading off.

:eek:WOW! What a play!

Anyway, second walk off of the week tonight! Mwahaha Blue Jays! Another strong pitching performance. Since Buchholz's start Saturday, Red Sox starters have gone 30 innings, and have given up five runs. Its good to see the pitching come around.

Angels are off to a decent start.

10-5 on the road!

Hopefully we can take 3-4 in Oakland.

:techman:

I'm headed to Boston for tonight's game, hope the streak of fantastic pitching keeps going! Of course, I'm getting Wakefield, so that can go either way...

Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News agrees, SmoothieX:

Well, he did call me for advice on his column!

I was listening to Mike and Mike this morning and they were commenting that even if he drops the suit, the damage is still done and the dirt out there for all to see.

I agree. And perhaps worse still is that dropping the suit implies some of the stuff McNamee is saying is true.

Anybody see the Web Gems of April on Baseball Tonight. There were a couple of throws in there didn't even seem humanly possible.

Anyone see the Sox game tonight? Two outs, bottom of the ninth, Brandon Moss at first. BJ Ryan pitches to Coco Crisp and he pops it up into right. Right Fielder catches it, game over....

But wait....

After the out Francona motions his players back on the field. Evidently during the last pitch, the Umps called a balk on Ryan during his delivery to Crisp, for not holding one second between his set position and his delivery. So everyone goes back on the field, and Gibbons comes out and bitches out the Umps. So they continue the game, and Crisp hits a single to right, first and third now. Tying run at the plate in Jed Lowrie, and I am thinking if they tie this game, Gibbons is gonna tweak. Lowrie made it a 3-2 count but struck out looking.

Still image the outrage if the Sox won or tied this game...hahaha!

yeah, I was there, and it was confusing as hell without having any announcers to help. Saw Crisp pop out to end it, they started playing the "they lost, go home" music over the PA system. And then as we're heading down the stairs, the teams start to go back on the field, and we're playing again. Very odd...

Mets get destroyed by the Pirates, then dominate the first place D-Backs on the road. I don't understand this game!

Even though Beckett didn't bring his good stuff tonight, the Sox managed to pound the Rays.

Shields was just great. Three earned runs before retiring a batter in the first?!

Don't worry, right, good, and true are back to normal.

Mets are getting positively busted by the D-Backs right now.

Did you really think that Mike Pelfrey had a shot at beating Brandon Webb. We won the important game with John Maine and now Johan Santana is gonna wrap up this series. I can`t wait for todays game since this will be the first regular season game where Johan is gonna pitch in perfect weather, so I expect a gem outta #57.

Despite the fact that they are going against Dan Haren, who can be just as good as Johan when healthy. Should be a good pitching match up.

Johan Santana is gonna wrap up this series.

Guess you forgot that DAN HAREN was pitching for the Diamondbacks. Johan is out of the game already and the game is tied 2-2 in the Eighth. The Mets may come back to win, but Johan couldn't get it done.

EDIT: Ah well, Chad Qualls was bound to have a bad day eventually. Too bad it had to be today.

Yeah I watched the whole Diamondback-Mets game today, hopefully to see the Mets loose and see Deadpool eat crow.;) But damn, some bad bounces and a bad throw. Still, the Diamondbacks are far and away the best team in the NL.
