Fictitious Countries in TV and Film

Well we can't forget Eastasia, Eurasia and Oceania, courtesy of George Orwell.

Or the Allied States of America and the Republic of Texas from Jericho. They will rise again! :D

Where the hell is this so-called Soviet Union supposed to be in all these old movies? It's not on the map! :p

Agrabah in Aladdin.

And, of course, Atlantis.

How could we have left out the great power amongst the fictional nations?
The Grand Duchy of Fenwick, the Mouse That Roared.

Far as I know, Genovia from Princess Diaries is not real.

Glad to see someone mentioned Mypos. Best fictional country ever!

D'OH! And Freedonia, from the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup. How could I forget that one? :o

In season 2 of 24 everyone kept mentioning the "THREE MIDDLE EASTERN COUNTRIES" but the lengths they went to to never actually refer to them by name just got plain ridiculous.
Don't forget season six, with all of the "why are you attacking my country?" stuff.

You Bastard! I thought, "No one is going to even mention that one"-I'm going to claim the Golden No-Prize and the Margarine Dildo award! (Throws self on ground and pounds dirt with fists) It's not fair!!!!:guffaw:

So my entry is Wakanda. Top that, Biaaatch!(Oh, wait, crap, you already did...:().

Well, there are always the fictional countries from Mission Impossible such as the European People's Republic, etc. I'll have to go back and watch my tapes...
There must be a list of all the various countries that the IMF ran operations in over the years. Going by signage, many of them seemed to have the same language, though.

That language was "Gellerese"!

"Balinderry" from The Six Million Dollar Man episode "Outrage in Balinderry"

Balinderry is an actual place in Northern Ireland, near Lough Neagh. The episode was supposed to refer to the "Dominion of Balinderry", in North West Europe. Except that the locals had Irish accents, dressed like French peasants and the troops patrolling the area looked like WWII era British soldiers. It didn't help that it appeared to be a dry, arid area, not unlike the US mid-west :p

You all should be ashamed of yourselves for not thinking of Caspiar.
Sorry, I've got no idea what that's from. It's sort of hard to think of a fictitious country you've never heard of before.
Yeah... never heard of that either.

Wikipedia at its best:

Atlantis: an island nation off the coast of Australia and Africa (might actually exist)
Hm. If I'm going to be generous, I presume they mean that Atlantis is something that some people have believed existed and presented arguments for its existence; which distinguishes it from, say, Tomania.
