Can't say that I do. I remember Adam West playing a character, but can't recall anyone from the TOS cast.

    Here's a toughie for y'all.

This movie dates from late '50s to early '60s.

The plot. America has become a police state. With J. Edgar Hoover type fella running the show. Somebody has information that can bring down the government and has to be found.

Memorable scenes. The movie opens with the credits rolling over a flag. The J. Edgar Hoover guy's arrival at a train station prompts his security guys to force everyone including a Salvation Army Santa to lie face down on the ground.

Does anyone have any idea what the name of this movie is? Please for the love of Science tell me.

Montgomery co-starred with Shatner in an episode of The Twilight Zone some 45 to 50 years ago! :D It wasn't the famously-remade "someone on the wing" episode, but they were both the "last of their kind" at the end of a mutual destruction scenario.

I bet this is it, Bonz. Which also explains why I couldn't think of it. Never been a Henry Fonda fan in the slightest and so have not make a point of seeing all his pictures. He was a huge weenie in a few of his early roles and I hated him so much in those roles that it really put me off him.

That was Charles Bronson, not Shatner.

    You should watch Mr. Roberts.

I remember seeing it when I lived at home with the parents.

For an atypical, MEAN Henry Fonda role, might I suggest "Once Upon a Time in the West"? The music is pretty damned good too.

There was a series starring Mike Farrell (of MASH fame) as an android-any ideas, folks?

Yep. I've seen that one as it is played on TCM fairly regularly. And no doubt about it, he's pretty doggone mean in that one. The hanging scene is particularly harrowing.

But I don't know...I can't seem to get past some of his early roles where he plays a total wuss. The Mad Miss Manton, for example...or the worst of all: his character in The Big Street. I'm not too crazy about his character in The Lady Eve either. All of these roles left me with this impression that he is an incredible wuss...and I can't seem to get past it.

A few months back TCM made him Star of the Month and I tried watching a few more of his films. I like Once Upon a Time in the West...and I like 12 Angry Men...and I like Jezebel (although this is mainly because of Bette Davis)...and I even like On Golden Pond. But for whatever reason I can't shake those earlier films from my mind. :(

Hey, thanks for all your helpful suggestions. It definately isn't Paint Your Wagon. That's one of my favourites. I'm going to do some more research. You're right about Richard Burton. I don't know why I thought it was him... :wtf:

Actually, it was before he joined the MASH cast, but you may be thinking of a 1974 TV movie called The Questor Tapes. It was intended as a series pilot, but was not picked up.

Farrell played a scientist in this, though; the android was played by Robert Foxworth. You may recognize one or two other names in the cast and crew list.

I've never seen it; but if I had to guess, I'd suggest the 1956 version of Orwell's 1984 may fit the bill. But, as stated, never seen it so damned if I'd know for sure.
