Thanks for voting in the first season polls. SamusAranX has asked me to post the poll for the second season. This is the first part where you have to vote the three episodes you consider to be the best. The five episodes receiving the most votes will go on to the next round. Well, you know the routine. ;)

Winners to date:
Surprise, surprise, surprise: Duet was (deservedly) voted as the best episode of the first season.

It's so much easier picking the 3 worst than the 3 best....after some deliberation I went with Necessary Evil, Whispers, and Crossover.

Forgive me, I voted for more than I wanted to.

Accept the following only from me:

Blood Oath
The Wire
Necessary Evil (season's best, IMO)

Necessary Evil - Superb film noir style episode. Great for the Odo/Kira relationship.
The Wire - Garak, as always, is a brilliant character. Good Bashir episode also.
Crossover - A welcome return to the mirror universe. Intendant Kira is a highly entertaining watch.

Necessary Evil, The Wire, and Crossover. the mirror episodes went south after that one. and The Wire is probably the best of these three. I do have a soft spot for The Maquis duo though, because of I guess my thing for the Dukat-Sisko dynamic.

The Wire - One of my favorite DS9 eps. I really enjoyed the Bashir/Garak aspect of the series.

Whispers - My favorite chief episode and also one of my top favorites.

Tribunal - Could have gone with Necessary Evil, but something about Colm Meaney's performances really draw me in. Too bad the episode has so much Keiko though...

The Wire is certainly the best Garak story of them all.

The Circle and Crossover round out my votes. Both are excellent stories.

This was a really tough one. I went with Whispers, The Wire, and The Collaborator, although there were three or four others that could have easily made the list.

Necessary Evil: I love Trek Noir, Terok Nor and anything that gives Rene something to get his teeth into.

Blood Oath: I really enjoy this and think it stands up as well as anything. Love Kang, Koloth and Kor.

The Wire: It's Garak.

I love the 2nd season. Its one of DS9's strongest along with seasons 4 and 5. Those who say DS9 only got good when the Klingon and Dominion conflicts started don't know what they're talking about IMO. I'll put 2nd season DS9 against any season of any other Trek show. So it was hard for me to select just three episodes.

I came about my choices by thinking back to the episodes that most held my interest when they originally aired. Had they stood the test of time? Yes. And here they are:

Necessary Evil (top ten ep of the entire 7 year run as far as I'm concerned)
Blood Oath (Jadzia's greatest episode)
Crossover (as dark as Necessary Evil with great characterizations---the following MU eps got progressively worse btw).

What's the common denominator for these three episodes? All were written by Peter Allan Fields who, along with Moore and Echevarria, was DS9's finest writer. From this season he also wrote "The Circle" which is generally considered by most to be the strongest of the The Circle Trilogy. Its a shame this guy didn't stay with the show as a regular member of the writing staff. I felt Kira particularly somewhat suffered (at least until season six) as a result of his departure.

The Homecoming
The Circle
The Siege

...stopped right there, despite a number of other stand out episodes, because this trilogy took the lead left by the end of season one and cemented Deep Space Nine's voice for the rest of the series...
