Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

Despite what a handful of people on this forum might think, a movie involving Captain Seven on the Enterprise G would get millions of more butt's into theater seats then a movie who's only claim to fame is the words "Star Trek" in the title.

Outside of Star Trek fandom, almost nobody knows who Jeri Ryan is. She’s not a bankable movie star who could pull ‘millions’ into theatres. If she was, she be starring in movies every year doing just that.

The last movie she did in 2019 was clearly aimed at Star Trek fans. It starred Shatner and was written by Maurice Hurley. It failed to bring in the millions.

2019. She hasn’t done in a film in 7 years. In fact apparently she’s only done 8 films in her entire career and none of them were big hits.

Facts. Pfft…

The only way Seven of Nine brings millions of people out to buy tickets is if she’s featured in a musical. And played by Taylor Swift.
Yup. Jeri Ryan is awesome, but she's old (may not matter to us, but it does to show business) and not nearly popular enough to carry the franchise on her back. Her time was 30 years ago on Voyager.

Age has nothing to do with it. Tom Cruise is older than Jeri Ryan and he’s a bankable movie star. It’s because he is A-List, and Ryan is C-List. Hell, even Kate Mulgrew is C-List, and she was the captain. That’s just Hollywood.

Lot of women in Hollywood has expressed concerns about invisiblity (better known than those two) as they get older, something Tom Cruise probably doesn't have to worry about.

The only chance TV Trek has in the future is if Paramount stops deluding themselves in thinking that the large audience they covet will come to their streaming service, and that they need to drop the “Home of Star Trek” banner.

Paramount’s audience is 35+ watching Taylor Sheridan dramas. Locking their Trek exclusively to the service has cut off the franchise’s legs. What they should have been doing was licensing previous seasons of SNW to Netflix. Have Netflix stream S1 when S2 debuts on P+, and so on. This is what AMC does to expand their audience because they know locking their shows on AMC+ would be a death sentence.

Star Trek has always thrived as a franchise that attracted younger audiences like college age, which is why they should have struck a deal with Netflix.

Section 31 and previous SNW and SFA seasons are on Amazon Video etc. for purchase. That's more than can be said for a lot of other streaming shows (forget about trying to buy Foundation episodes, Netflix shows elsewhere or even on physical media, etc.)

I’ll admit, I’ve bought the majority of Star Trek on my AppleTV*. I have every intent on canceling P+ for various reasons** after SNW finishes its run next year.

*TOS, TAS, TNG, ENT, DSC, PIC, LDS, PRO along with all of the movies, and waiting on SNW and SFA to complete to buy full series on sale and fingers crossed DS9 and VOY get remastered but not bloody likely though so I need to decide if that’s worth it, but the other two first.

**Money being primary, but another is political. And before it’s said, no, I’m not double backing on anyone taking a stand against the current Paramount regime. I never said that they couldn’t. I said that it confused me that they would discuss something with only experiencing a third of an episode as acting and visuals take a big part in how the material is presented. I am fine with anyone taking whatever stands they need to. PERSONALLY, I just love Trek too much to not watch it. Call me weak if you have to. But I’m not a hypocrite.

Feel free to name another character that would get the casual trek fan into theater seats whose actor/actress might actually be willing to make a movie.

I think even at the height of his popularity, Patrick Stewart was a B-lister. And he’s probably the biggest Trek alumni from the bunch.
Patrick Stewart was a B-Lister up to the point he played Professor Xavier.

Attracting hardcores and casuals aren't the problem. They'll show up for just about anyone.

Which Alist films has he been in outside of the FoxMen and Trek?

Section 31 and Starfleet Academy show that's just not accurate.
They're the only ones who showed up. Hence...
I will assume you mean all Marvel films by FoxMen, in which case the last one was Charlies Angels.

Before that there was Ted and Ted 2.
Are those "A list" films?

He's not exactly at the top of the cast list in either.
