Jane Tranter has revealed the present TARDIS Console room was dismantled over the summer
I always hoped it would eventually get similar treatment as Smith's second console room to Capaldi's version, which got a heavy lived in make-over.Didn't like it, felt like a warehouse, so much empty space and very little furniture.
Give me Capaldi's console room over this any day.
That feels like a metaphor for their two eras.I always hoped it would eventually get similar treatment as Smith's second console room to Capaldi's version, which got a heavy lived in make-over.

Capaldi's console room was complicated, a bit scruffy, and it filled up with stuff reflecting the Doctor's personality as he figured himself out. The bookcases, the blackboard full of equations, the electric guitar. It even had a chair!
Gatwa's console room made an amazing first impression, with its sheer size and its array of programmable lights. It was just a really well built set, and they even threw in a jukebox for some reason. Which never got used. But then the episodes went on, and it remained this big empty sterile room. They tried to give the Doctor some development by saying he should get a chair, but he never got one. It was ultimately just an impressive background, not a room for the actors to do anything in.
Yeah, it was just two big and empty. I've liked most of the other New Series console rooms, and the overall look of the last one was cool, it was just to big and empty.Didn't like it, felt like a warehouse, so much empty space and very little furniture.
Give me Capaldi's console room over this any day.
Personally speaking... It makes me mad and sad that just as the show got good/exciting again, just as I finally got back to it after five long years of void and awfulness, that it just stopped. And during probably the most turbulent, radical politically period of our lives, also! Was it flawless? No, but what era of the show ever is?
Is this how fans felt after 1989? Finally a good version of the program (season 25-26) after a long stretch where it felt unsatisfactory?
Fuckin' Disney, and Fuckin' Beeb!

its still boggles my mind how the entire doctor who audios paperbacks hardcovers and comics worlds since 1963 is still alive and kicking while doctor who on tv got somewhat cancelled aka axed after doctor who 2023 season 3 aka doctor who 2005 season 15 ended
Not cancelled but not in production
Just like in 1989, the show is currently on hiatus. How long that hiatus lasts remains to be seen. Hopefully it'll be quicker than that particular interregnum, but to be completely honest, I have a feeling it's likely to be more than a few years yet.
