I, too, wish people would stop leaning on that. I want to see something representative, not some generic computer poster.

At a cursory glance, the shows do not appear to use AI. Maybe @Peter Carafano can clarify.

There are six films total, the two best are: "Before the Terror":

These fan films were filmed with real people on actual sets. AI was used for developing the thumbnails. There are two series The USS Defiant and the CSO Cadet series. Spacegate Station is at heart an educational STEM Channel produced by teachers in Duval County, Florida (spacegatestation.com). The Star Trek Fan films are their yearly projects which focuses on involving Middle and High Schools Students in video production using the amazing Star Trek Universe as its foundation. The last three productions involved actual theater students portraying the main characters. The program is expanding the CSO cadet series with the USS Republic, a training vessel for cadets. Set construction is going on now and it should come out in the Spring of 2027

So you guys are like the school in Florida that has been doing KOTOR fan films. The King’s Academy.

Will definitely have to check you guys out.

it actively drives me away from watching things, even when i know for sure the video itself is not ai generated. there are a bunch of old scifi movies popping up in my recs lately that i refuse to watch because they have generated thumbnails, although they at last have put the movie title into the machine.

I notice they tend towards orange and brown backgrounds, which increases the sameness.

AI cover page is not a promising start.

I hate this reflexive luddite negativity.

This is a FAN production. Look at it for a few minutes. If AI helps them achieve a THUMBNAIL so be it.

They've not removed a job from anyone. They weren't going to commission a designer to create one.

I'm a writer. Have you ever used a spellchecker? Well screw you for doing me out of work. 😅

And as always, it's easy to sit and shit from a far on people - but where's YOUR fan production with paid-for artwork?

Don’t ever change.

No plans to, no need to. Was that in question?

Ignore them @Peter Carafano there's a lot of people here that just float around giving advice that was not asked for and rudeness that is not warranted. Not everyone is like it...

You really do. Because if you had read the whole thread, you wouldn’t have made the knee jerk reply…
