As I was describing "The Hellfire Club" above, I started getting Epstein vibes.

Then I remembered that two of the people in charge were a telepath and an illusionist, so it's quite likely that the only people forced to do anything against their wills, were the billionaires tasked with the unpleasant chore of not being reprehensible for 10 minutes, which is pretty much already what we saw in First Class.

In 2019, Kitty Pryde was coronated as the Red Queen of the Hellfire Club, and I can't imagine imagine Katherine hunting the poor for sport or keeping bus terminal runaways in suspended gogo cages.

Oh, Elliot Page is in the Odyssey. :)

I think their is big difference between racism and something being done to wipe a whole race or group of people off the face of the planet. That is a kind of evil even most bigots would see as going to far. Your talking about thousands upon thousands of people being murdered
Considering events in the world today it seems that the racists and bigots are just fine with it and happy to go outside waving their flag to support it.

Their does seem to be a moral decline in society but we have not come close to the kind of evil that the Nazi's were doing. Right now most of the hate in the world is people making angry rants on the internet. It's very telling that Trump started to become less popular in opinion polls this last year when he has been at his very worst. Which includes people who have supported him in the past, at least enough to vote for him.

If anything Magneto would make sense in that his see's the problems happening in modern society as indication that Nazi Germany type of government might be on the verge of coming back and he would use his powers and skills to build up a army to fight. The other thing is Magneto would actually appeal more to people on the left who want to fight back against the system. Those on the right would be against mutants because of replacement theory bigotry. Magneto would appeal to those types who look at someone like Luigi Mangione or the guy who killed Charlie Kirk as heroes.

Xavier would be someone who is trying to unite the world and create one where human and mutants can co-exist and live in peace and realizes and feels the need for the X-Men to be working through the system yet is able to keep some independence which is what would be one of the things that separate them from the Avengers who are basically government police, that simply has very little oversight.

The rub might lie in the fact that Mutants have never been any sort of "boogeyman" in the 616/MCU. They've played with enhanced individuals being "outlaws" in Civil War, No Way Home, Ms. Marvel and DD Born Again, but for they most part they're seen as heroes. So there needs to be something in Magneto's backstory that convinces him that being "enhanced" (Mutant) will lead to hate, bigotry and genocide.

Mutant probably works better as a metaphor for the LGBTQ experience than race. Anyone can be a Mutant. Your neighbor, your teacher, your boss or your kid. You can spot the "out" Mutants with their blue fur, bird wings and steel bodies. But what about that kid with the glasses or his redheaded girl friend? Is Bob on your bowling team a mutant? It that how he wins so much? So I'm curious how the "Mutant Menace" will raise its ugly head in the post Secret Wars MCU

Nazi Germany had its share of supporters in the U.S. during the war as well. It's not unique to today. It's just that everyone has a global voice now and can get organized more easily

What's interesting about the X-Men is it's kind of a broad enough that it kind of works for both metaphors. It's also kind of interesting in that Magneto is also old enough that even though he is smart enough to see the danger to mutants in the modern world but is also blinded by other factors such as how bigotry and hatred as changed in the modern world.

I can see a story were Magneto and Xavier's leadership is even challenged by those who are basically on their side of the argument but have their own ideas on what should be done. You could have a situation were they are more fully trusted by older mutants than they are by younger mutants.

If 50 per cent of mutant babies are hospital burning bombs or fetuses shooting shooting laser beams from their feet from inside their mothers, through their mother and crisscrossing into crowds of innocent bystanders...

The existence of mutants is a seminal danger to all proper life in America.

Get tested today, and sterilized tomorrow if necessary.

Agents of SHIELD did a lot of racism allegory with the Inhumans, so I've sometimes thought the MCU should've just retconned the X-Men into Inhumans rather than mutants and built on the AoS backstory.

I haven't read all the eras of the X-Men but it seems to me that what they represent has changed over the years. In short, they represent the minority or "the other" whatever that is at the moment.
Agreed. I can see a strong argument of depicting mutants now as an allegory for the Trans experience, especially right now with the increasing hate-fueled prejudice that's targeting the community.

AoS is the redheaded stepchild of the MCU.

Yeah, but it shouldn't be. If the movies had embraced it, they could've used it as backstory for the X-Men. I mean, the Inhuman storylines were basically a way of doing mutant storylines when Marvel Studios didn't have the screen rights to mutants, so it would've been logical to conflate them. Maybe "mutant" could've just been an alternative term for the Inhumans.

After the terrible "Inhumans" tv show I think they are trying to forget they even existed. At least until enough years past and then they might try something new with them.

I mean, AoS even had normal humans form groups like the Watchdogs who were also worried about groups like the Avengers and saw them as a potential danger unless they were "Controlled" and had their information exposed.

Zemo's reasoning about how Superhumans could easily be the end of normal Humans (in a sense that they're a would-be Master Race that will dominate Normals) in FATWS could be expanded upon to a larger part of the population.

An ancient Civilization on the moon, the size of a half a football field.

Just 200 cousin fukcing cousins.

12 of them are very royal, 50 are palace staff, and everyone else is an undesirable in the mine.

So stupid.
