The James Bond Film Discussion Thread (With Bonus Lazenby!)

I'm sure someone knows where the audio is. (I think it's probably somewhere upthread.) EON made Criterion re-release the discs but Criterion would send you the audio if you asked.
Oh I’m sure they have it, but the rights holder is the one who makes the call one whether they can do anything with it.

Similar thing happened recently with Kino Lorber’s Columbo 70’s boxset. They were all set to have a bunch of commentaries and other features, and then the Falk estate (IIRC) killed the extras. They’re notoriously a pain in the ass to work with.

I meant that someone posted earlier where you could find it now online.

It's been 30 years, but IIRC EON had the say if it was on a disc, but Criterion could publish it on other media. :D So you got a note in your LD that said "If you want the audio mail us at..."

The new James Bond video game First Light is apparently a great game if you're looking for something that plays sort like Uncharted, Watch Dogs and Hitman.

Speaking of laserdiscs here's a cool video

"Idris Elba says rumors about him playing James Bond were "never legit"
and "not realistic," as audiences "won't go for a Black male" in the role."
I've got a strong preference for iconic characters to retain their look, whether they're Bond, Blade, Snape or Shang-Chi, but Elba could've made a fantastic Bond villain. Still could, as long as they don't put too much prosthetic makeup on his face to act through, or whatever happened with Beyond.

Also, man I can't stand the word woke, but I get what he's saying there.

But since Bond dies in the last movie we know now it's just a codename. Why can't he be Bond if it's just an MI6 codename?

It's not a codename. The Craig Bond is a Bond from an alternate timeline, separate from the first five actors to play the role on the big screen. His Bond is now dead, so whatever gets produced by the new IP holders will be in yet another alternate continuity, the third official 007 timeline (and fourth overall if we count Never Say Never Again).

OK thank you Eddie.

Was this ever officially confirmed though?

My head loves this idea but I know it would never happen. Imagine all the Bonds meeting in a movie

Sure, Tracy his murdered wife has been the confirmation since the 1970s. Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan all share direct or thinly veiled references to her murder in 1969 and how that loss has gone on to scar and change James over the succeeding decades.

Though Tracy isn't directly mentioned in Diamonds Are Forever it seems the producers' intent to have Connery's Bond hunting down Blofeld with such savage intensity in the pre-titles sequence on behalf of his murdered bride. So in effect all five "Prime" Bonds share a Tracy connection, even if unspoken.
