DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

To be fair, while I wouldn’t call myself a fanatic, I am a big fan of each. Though that is not, in and of itself, a refutation of your point, of course.
Certainly. I only said fanatic to distinguish people who enjoy his films and those who are still hoping Snyder will continue his vision with Superman, the latter of whom are, I think is safe to say, the original target of derision in this conversation.

To me it looks like they wanted Tom Cruise to play the Hal Jordan character but couldn’t afford him and they got Kyle Chandler

Something about Kyle Chandlers performance that made me think Tom Cruise could also do that role

The role of “you’re not ready kid” and world weariness similar to Top Gun Maverick

I very much doubt anyone at any point thought that casting Cruise was an option.

And honestly i'd rather Cruise stay in his lane and make massive blockbusters because he takes over any role and it's Cruise playing a pilot, secret agent, Samurai etc. His starpower to me has become a crutch too because it's impossible to see him vanish into a role and get people to focus on the character and the story rather than see him running through the screen and doing some heroics.

Other A listers have a similar problem too but there is a caliber of actor who are both A Listers like Christian Bale, Daniel Day Lewis or Matthew McConaughey but who can still do it depending on the project, i.e. vanish into the role.

I really kike Chandler so i'm happy to see him there and from little we see him through the trailers i think i will enjoy it.

The new trailer pretty much alleviated any concerns I had, this looks great.
2) We know this show is in two time periods - I think we have mainly see the earlier period
I can't remember if they came out and said it directly, but I got the impression from the article that came out the other day, that the 2026 storyline is only going to have John, and maybe Guy.

Tom Cruise is tiny.

Do we really want Kevin Hart as John Stewart?
