I don't get it.

Erp! The Constellation class Defiant (brain fart) in the epi "In a Mirror, Darkly". Basically a nicely shot version of Kirk's enterprise. I also liked the sets of DS9's return to that era.
The premise -- being lost, journeying home, and the Starfleet/Maquis conflict -- was the only thing that appealed to me about Voyager. The show's failure to follow through on much of the premise ultimately drove me to give up on the show during the fourth season.
Sweet. This is the Dauntless from Hope and Fear? Like a muscled up version of Prometheus. (What is it with not putting consoles on the captain's chair anymore)?

If you want to say a statement I outlined is false and then offer one which in no way contradicts it, then of course I'm going to point that out. That is hardly a nitpick or a minor factual error; the essential premise of the statement is flawed.
I actually think VOY's premise was really interesting and showed a lot of promise - it's the execution that was so terrible and disappointing. The idea of a ship stranded on the other side of the galaxy, in uncharted territory, cut off from help, struggling for survival - there's amazing potential right there. Add in the Maquis element and things become even more complex. And all of the characters seemed to be good choices.
It's just that the show never properly used any of it.

I liked it becase
1. We were on the Borgs home turf so could explore them more
2. Got the chance to see a female captain in action
3. Don't get me wrong I like Genes vision of the future but I think TNG gave us the impression everyone was perfect, people will make mistakes and I liked the whole Paris being the rebel who redeemed himself thing.
4. Being stranded away from the Alpha Quadrant cut them free from some of the more boring alien races like the Romulans.
5. It keps the ST social commentary aspect like "critical care" and explored future controversy like Holographic rights
I disliked
1. They over-relied too much on the Borg while ignoring the poitential of alot of Delta quadrant foes like the Videens and the Hirogen.
2. Kes....existed...
3. The ship was getting along way too easily for one that was in so many battles but had no access to a starbase
4. The way they got to the Delta Quadrant...god that was awful

Well, welcome to the board. 
I happen to be a very devoted fan of Voyager but can sympathize as to how you feel about the whole stranded concept. However, I thought it was a rather interesting storyline, given the circumstances. As of this moment, I'm watching one of my favorite Voyager episodes on DVD "Dark Frontier". To me, this episode was one of Voyager's better episodes, granted it wasn't the best episode of the series, but I really enjoyed the whole Borg concept.
In answer to your questions regarding the show, I really enjoyed the storyline as well as the characters. To me, the best cast is the Voyager cast. Anyway, as I stated earlier, I really enjoyed the stranded in the DQ concept very much. I thought that it added to the series as a whole and made it unique from the rest of the Trek series.
I do agree that a lot of episodes were bland and needed something else to them, but the series as a whole was wonderful and I could relate to most of the characters. The characters that I related to the most were the Doc and B'Ellana Torres. I can be alittle fiesty and defensive like B'ellana and I also have a tendency to make people laugh and feel underutilized like the Doc did at times. But the series as a whole was wonderful and I really loved watching it every week. It was the one show I could turn to when everything in HS was hectic. I don't know about any of you all, but Voyager was like an escape for me. This was the one show that I religiously watched every single week. When it first came on, I didn't know whether or not I would like it. But I gave it a second chance, and really started to enjoy it after the episode "The Cloud". I did think Janeway's character was too stiff and commanded, but she did deepen as a character after the first season and I really liked her later on in the series.
Favorite seasons: 2, 3, and 4. And year 5 wasn't bad either.

Agreed. I thought I'd come unglued when I saw that. Creepy!
That scene was both unintentionally hilarious and truly disgusting.

I totaly agree, she was a very weak character. She had potential starting out but it was all wasted. She became a background character that did little more than hand the doctor hyposprays.
but as I've said before, Voyager is not only my favorite Trek show, but also my favorite tv show ever! I loved the idea of a ship without Starfleet around to cry to like Picard and Sisko did. Any problem they had they just had to turn around and there was Starfleet sending them more ships and admirals and whatnot. Voyager, like the original Star Trek was truly about a ship exploring the unknown on their own.
On top of that (with the exception of Kes and Chakotay) Voyager had wonderfuly intereting charactes and fantastic chemistry among the actors.
plus how could you not love this....

but let me get this straight you said you liked Voyager because they could go into much more detail on the Borg, but you dislike Voyage because they went into detail on the Borg??????
I actualy don't think that they had too many episodes about the borg. I've done a count and at the most there are 8 episodes out of the whole show that have anything more than the mention of the word Borg. There are about 8 episodes only when they actualy interact with the Borg. 8 out of something like 170 episodes isn't that much

Except they are all major episodes which adds more weight to them, I suppose.
And Kes did have a lot of wasted potential. I'm not a big fan of the "power corrupts" plot, but I think it could have worked really well with her--at least better than it did in "Fury".
