DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

So Brett Ratner becomes the new head of DC and casts Dean Cain as Superman, Kevin Sorbo as Batman, Gina Carano and Wonder Woman and Kristy Swanson as Black Canary?

Damn, just one more piece of the media MAGA assholes can control now. And it's also the loss of another major studio for Hollywood, so it's pretty much all around bad news.

I like I said in the Netflix thread, this disgusts me.

Yet another bully wins by refusing to take no for an answer. This sends such a horrible message in an already toxic environment.

That bothers me far more than what Paramount may potentially do to Star Trek and DC and everything in between.

Netflix isn't offering any more money, thats all. They didn't terminate their bid. The deal still has to be voted on next month. There is also the possibility that all this falls through and nobody buys WB.

Nice breakdown of what's actually happening.

DC itself could possibly be sold off to a different company. If it doesn't, a lot of creatives are going to bail and it will be a boon for Marvel, Image and the Indy comics.

Well, there's still some hope left this deal will be stopped:

Variety| California Attorney General Warns Paramount That Warner Bros. Discovery Acquisition is 'Not a Done Deal'

Rob Bonta, California’s Attorney General, is promising to conduct a “vigorous” review of Paramount Skydance’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery as he warned the companies not to get ahead of the regulatory process in their celebrations.

“Paramount/Warner Bros is not a done deal. These two Hollywood titans have not cleared regulatory scrutiny — the California Department of Justice has an open investigation, and we intend to be vigorous in our review,” Bonta said in a statement issued Thursday evening.

Hopefully they will decide this just one step to close to a monopoly and put a stop to it. I'm still kind of amazed the Disney deal was even allowed to go through, and that at least didn't have the kind of political and cultural impact MAGA getting a hold of another would.

I don't look at the Paramount)Warner merge as a bad or good thing. The movie industry is dying a slow death. Theaters will be mostly gone in another decade or so. There have been no new franchises that have been must seen the last 10-15 years. So I don't see why so many are upset. Things can't get any worse in Hollywood. actually they can and will... Add Ai to the mix and we'll you know.. 😂
