Early Criticism: What’s Unfounded and What Isn’t

Can you explain the constructive criticism in being mad about a skirt?
You're the only one showing anger here. ....................
Of course, because it's not constructive criticism at all, but bigotry. RMB and people who think like him are cowards plain and simple. Terrified by a fucking fictional alien in a skirt.

He doesn't believe male Klingons would wear skirts in the future. That's all he said. No F bombs of any kind used. Based on everything we know about Klingons, I hardly would call that crazy thinking. If you disagree, explain what Klingons you have seen from the TOS to SNW that say "yeah, that's how Klingons would evolve centuries later."

I always thought Marina Sirtis looked great in hers... 😆
yeah but the Cheerleader hairdo she had....They finally got her hair and makeup right in season 7 she looked beautiful, elegant and commanded respect. I think a lot had to do with the fact that she began wearing std issue uniforms after Captain Jelicho dressed her down.

Yes it is. You not liking his explanation doesn't change that fact.

No, its not. Constructive criticism highlights how something is wrong and suggests constructive reasons and ways of doing it a different. The former without the latter is just criticism with evidence.

And the criticism amounts to that we didnt see it within a very narrow temporal window of about 150 years, ignoring a massive 800 year jump and the fact fashion changed on Earth significantly in a similar timeframe between the present and 1200.

They're a fictional Alien species. Why can't they wear skirts and why would that be an issue in the 32nd century?

The real problem is in the here and now because RMB and others like him have a warped sense of what masculinity is. I would dare say, RMB has no idea what masculinity actually is because if he did, he wouldn't be threatened by a guy in a skirt.

And spare me the pearl-clutching when it comes to swear words. You're an adult. Deal with it.

“Regardless of how his character identifies” is pretty obviously anti-LGBTQIA+ dogwhistling, IMHO. Why would the character‘s sexuality or gender identity factor into the fact that he‘s wearing a fucking skirt? RMB very obviously wants his readers to know that he thinks skirts on guys are gay and he doesn‘t want gay stuff on Klingons. It‘s homophobia, in the guise of being concerned about a fictional species.

Even then, nothing wrong with simple criticism, I would submit, if there are other Klingons wearing Madonna influenced mini-skirts, it might be more of an acceptable paradigm. But hey if he wants to wear them, more power to him. I just think that they should have a little more of an aggressive look to them, I don't know how you'd do that, I'm not Georgio Armani!!!!!:)

Right. Good old Jelicho... 😁

You never know. He could be Scottish, or Canadian.
