Paramount+ 60th Anniversary Intro

* Actually, I suppose the Movie Enterprise is the outlier. No Sovereign, no JJ-prise. But you can't leave off the most gorgeous fictional spacecraft of all time, can you?
There are many, many, many opinions discussed and debated on these forums daily. And everyone is entitled to their opinions and we should respect them.

However, there are certain factual realities that are not open for debate. Gene Roddenberry was the creator of Star Trek, for example. That is simple, factual data that is not open for debate. Star Trek premiered on NBC in 1966. Etc.

And the refit Enterprise as seen in TMP is the most beautiful fictional spacecraft ever created. Not a matter of opinion. Just a simple, objective fact.

Hell, some rumors suggest Roddenberry himself considered the idea back in the 70s.
He did. He discussed it in 1968 at World Science Fiction Convention.

As early as The Original Series’ third season, Gene Roddenberry had spoken of making a Star Trek motion picture. At the 1968 World Science Fiction Convention held over Labor Day weekend in Oakland, California he drew enthusiastic applause when he told a rapt audience his plans for filming a prequel to the series telling the story of how Kirk and his crew had met at Starfleet Academy.

SNW is also coming out this year, isn't it? Maybe Paramount hears the feedback and updates it, and maybe then we get the Cerritos.

I can see not using La Sirena, as it isn't a Starfleet ship. And does get Borgified, after all. But the Stargazer or Titan/Enterprise are all worty PIC entrants, as is the D, of course.

Likewise, not using the Cerritos kinda keeps the joke up, they aren't necessarily flagship quality.

Need a Protostar class ship.

But I'd add one from each show nonetheless.

That's still an opinion, but everyone is entitled to said opinion. Sometimes I feel 2001: A Space Odyssey's Discovery is the 2nd greatest/most visually appealing fictional spaceship (exterior & interior) ever created, but others may have valid reasons to disagree with that choice. The same applies to the refit 1701.

I don't think ILM ever debated that it was a good-looking ship model, just that it was unwieldy as shit and generally difficult to film. I remember reading somewhere that they were elated that they blew up the E in TSFS, hoping that later films would use a repainted Excelsior, and then being pissed off when they found out they would still have to film it as the E-A at the end of TVH.

I'm still kind of irked that they removed the original pearlescent finish, but I understand that it was something that needed to be done with the blue screen reflections screwing up the compositing process.

But I agree that she's a gorgeous ship to look at - not a single bad angle on it (can't really say the same for many others that came after) - second only to the TOS Battlestar Galactica, IMO.
