Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

The local supermarket has taken its Christmas tree down, on just day five of Christmas.

They put it up early in November.

As my temporary handle suggests, I don't have any personal skin in the game... but how can people not see this as just pretty insulting to the religious festival? Two months of it up when it's not Christmas, then they have it down before Christmas is even over.

And don't get me started on selling Jesus's death eggs before Christmas is even over.

I just realised, I think I'm channeling this meme:

Been buying donuts from the grocery store bakery, enjoying them perfectly fine. Specialty bakery shops sell them for like $4-5 each. Are they really that much better?
Earth hit some cosmic point when "A dollar to a doughnut" became an even bet ... and soon got worse!

I was thinking about this quote from Ally McBeal: If you think back and replay your year - if it doesn't bring you tears of joy or sadness, consider the year wasted.
I had a lot of both this year but it was the first time I truly felt alive. I know it's a sucky time for a lot of ppl but it was the best year of my life. I hope you all have a great 2026.

Nice! Did you go out? I live in Camden and went to Campbelltown for 9pm fireworks. Watched a little of the 12am fireworks on TV.
Nope. I live in Melbourne now. I watched them on TV. Ended putting on ABC iview just before midnight. Been a long while since I lived in Sydney (over 20 years ago or now). I was happy watching Discovery (as I watched all of season 4 yesterday). I do remember watching them on Sydney foreshore back in 2003 or some year like that.

Why the hell do I raise my voice when talking to someone who doesn't speak English?

It's not like that makes it easier for them to understand me.

When the internet became mainstream my aunt would forward every mass email she received. Now that texting is a normal thing, my mother likes to text everything she reads on the internet to everyone.

Have a bunch of items saved for later on Amazon, and it's funny how some of them fluctuate in price every single day, sometimes by a penny, sometimes by dollars, all because Amazon is trying to chase the prices of everyone else. If Target has it for less, suddenly Amazon will have it for a few pennies cheaper. If Amazon is the lowest price without competition, suddenly the price goes up.

Do any of you who read draft scripts of films and television, do you read them on a device or do you print them out?

I bought something from a store but instead of someone like FedEx or UPS delivering it from their warehouse in Kentucky or wherever, it's being driven from an actual store by a service called Roadie which I've never heard before. The store is only like 45-60 minutes away depending on traffic, but ETA for delivery says it could be as late a 7 hours from now.

Anyone have experience with Roadie? Do they deliver a lot of products from many different stores? Do enough people use it that it's a full day of deliveries for the driver like Amazon? I want to leave the house but don't want this delivered when I'm not here.

The map doesn't actually show the progress of the driver, just that the item was picked up from the store.
