Yes, but mushroom drive is just fineI presume a chemical warp drive might be illegal in most jurisdictions.

The judder drive interests me.We know some laws of physics are violable in certain cases - for example, the universe is not space and time-translation invariant so momentum and energy are not always conserved, space-time can expand faster than the speed of light
I'd bet on the fundamental space and time symmetries preventing non-conservation of momentum and energy, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if there is some fundamental loophole that we have yet to discover and could exploit. It might mean we'd have access to perpetual motion machines and I wonder what the drawbacks of those would be - environmentally catastrophic heat pollution and everyone having ready access to non-nuclear gigaton-scale weapons perhaps. The oil industry magnates would also be pissed. Yet another candidate for the Great Filter...The judder drive interests me.

I think for that to work, it needs nanofabrication:
Inverted-Mode Scanning Tunneling Microscopy for Atomically Precise Fabrication
Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) enables fabrication of atomically precise structures with unique properties and growing technological potential. However, reproducible manipulation of covalently bonded atoms requires control over the atomic configuration of both sample and probe - a...arxiv.org
The EM Drive, even if the math worked, relies upon a crude frustum.

Donnie Darko dealt with that just a little bit (the initial concept of the movie was supposed to include the website that offered more info on some of the characters in the film as well as "The Philosophy of Time Travel". But most of that info is gone, now.If "reality" were all conscious states that could be instantiated, that would include both heaven and hell as well as all possible worlds. All sounds, music, poetry, novels, images, movie frames or anything perceivable together with emotional reaction exist somewhere and simultaneously within a hypothetical timeless yet finite quantum Library of Babel of possible conscious states that has sufficient resolution. FTL might then be a matter of creating entanglement between states. Exploring such a realm might take one to places best avoided. Excessive pleasure might be just as toxic as excessive anguish.
Just my somewhat silly suggestion...
ETA: Some movies about this and other philosophical themes:
Donnie Darko dealt with that just a little bit (the initial concept of the movie was supposed to include the website that offered more info on some of the characters in the film as well as "The Philosophy of Time Travel". But most of that info is gone, now.
Donnie, as he begins to understand the tangential nature of the timeline he's in, realizes that certain movements he might otherwise take would not otherwise be possible being "Outside God's Channel" (he's going to use religious symbolism if for no other reason he's basing his understanding on a fellow time traveler's book , the old nun, Roberta Sparrow aka Grandma Death.) To travel time, which essentially is FTL, is an act of will.
But in that pocket universe created by the falling jet engine crossing realities, he IS outside the channel and capable of literally following his heart, as seen in the foot-ball watching scene, or the costume party. Interestingly, when he does mention "God's Channel" , the science teacher, who until that moment had been supportive of Darko and possibly giving him breadcrumbs to these answers, shuts up and won't speak further, claiming he will get fired.
