News Rob and Michele Reiner found dead

It's not relevant to anything, but it occurs to me that Reiner's directing career was bookended. Started with This is Spinal Tap, ended with Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. (Apparently with one more Tap concert film still to come.)

Reminds me of Martha DeLaurentiis, Firestarter (84) to Firestarter (22).

True. Reiners last acting appearance was in a few episodes of the Bear. Which is a quality show. So his career in film and tv ended on High notes. Still so sad. He was still active and probably had a few more films or acting jobs in him yet. 😢

A horrendous story. I was reminded initially of the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife but at least that turned out just to be really bad luck and a medical tragedy, not anything sinister. This is just unspeakable.

Rob Reiner really had such a great run of movies across so many genres, he’s, if anything, underrated because he could turn his hand so effortlessly to anything from thrillers to comedy to drama and hit out crowd-pleasers so often. There are not many directors now who could have the winning streak he had in the 80s and 90s.

My girlfriend immediately thought of Hackman and his wife, too, but I sensed this was a different situation even before their identities were confirmed.

Even though the circumstance is drastically different, I'm emotionally reminded how I felt about Robin Williams' tragic death.

Fuck. This sucks.

There are no words. Absolutely awful.
I was also reminded of Gene Hackman and his wife. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but shortly after that happened it was first thought to be something worse.

But still, it's a terrible ending to all their lives.

I love Spinal Tap and was looking forward to the second part. Rob Reiner made so many good movies and was such a large part of the fabric of Hollywood.

If the stories are true that it was Billy Crystal and Larry David who discovered the bodies, that's got to be doubly traumatic for both of them; especially Billy, seeing how he had to bury his friend Robin.
