Thirty-nine years ago today, one man began a journey...

Oh, that old punk. Some things never change.

If you know the movie, there's this fun fan homage to it, which came out three years ago on the film's 36th anniversary. In fact, that old punk above loved it because it was shot in most of the same locations and matched the camera position and framing.

I was living in the Bay Area when IV was filmed, just in high school. Friends and I tried for a while, after we heard of filming in San Francisco, to sort out what exactly they could be doing, what areas they could shoot in. Starfleet Command/HQ was there, yeah, but...? A time travel story hadn't occurred to us.
So in the end when folks were just randomly cruising around Columbus/Kearny/etc .... auuugh. I had moved and changed schools before IV premiered, but for me it was brutal. Probably the same for the friends. A missed chance. And yeah, we all 'knew' PoB, heh.

As odd as the rest of S2 was, his return cameo was nice
I think it would have been more enjoyable if it were one thing, standing out... something special. But as they club hammer you with throwbacks it's lost in the noise. It's just another "oh we know Star Trek" moment, which is a bit sad.

Although of course he's less of a thug than some of the Starfleet crew now, so that's a good juxtaposition.

As to Madge Sinclair there was something very charming about her. And a black female captain shows the progress since the original pilot. We lost her too young.
