Damnation, my sister was right. RTD did use the anachronistic name. I thought the Doctor said "This is Miami, Dade County," but the script confirms it was "Miami-Dade County," which it's only been called since the 1990s.The S15 scripts are up on the BBC's website now. I think they tried to fudge the dates on 'The Reality War' pages though as there's only a few random ones dated six months after the rest.
One change from the broadcast episode is that the 13th Doctor says she was pulled out from the Edge to stop the 15th, so the line about telling Yaz she loves her isn't in the script at all.
There is. If enough people are inoculated, and the virus dwindles in transmission, it is entirely possible to eventually get rid. But, as it’s similar to things like cold and flu, it is not plausible that will be achieved.
Other things *have* been eradicated. (Smallpox for instance, and on a smaller scale TB was eradicated in some countries before sadly ending up finding its way back in.) Still others are on the verge of being eradicated by virtue of preventing the spread via treatment and inoculation, until the last remaining carriers pass — hopefully of something *other* than the disease or virus itself.
It is rather dependent on a combination of science, human kindness and ingenuity, and humans being intelligent enough to take action.
Which brings back the question of plausibility.

In a perfect example of how screwed humanity is, the second fake photo, which was created specifically to show how easy it is to create a fake photo these days, is itself now being spread around the internet as a real photo.

It's believable because it's nothing like what we came to expect from AI in the early days. No weird appendages with the wrong amount of fingers. No nightmarish half-melted alien looking faces in the background.
The scary thing is that the "early days" you're talking about are like... merely two years ago.
It really is hard to terrifying how hard it's getting to tell what photos are AI and which are real.
I'll admit, part of why the photo got me is I'm really bad at judging ages, so Billie Piper didn't really look all that different to me, other than the hair color.
It's been pretty definitively proven at this point that the picture is fake.
Aw, fuck. It's even worse now: I just saw on my feed, courtesy of a video preview (since I refused to click on it even though I think it's a video debunking it) that there's now a video that recreates that photo.
I mean, it is possible to recreate quite easily. If I take the supposedly "leaked" photo I can just ask Gemini to clean it up, enhance the photo, zoom out. That makes it a lot harder to guess how real or unreal it is. I could also ask it to make the photo look blurry and the actors younger if I wanted to play it the other way around.
I believe there are programs available to tell if something is an AI image or not but these also are not foolproof. And it's an uphill battle against a technology that is constantly making jumps in quality.
Anyway. My heart has been broken too many times before to allow myself for even a second to think it might be real.
You're right on that but I apologize that I wasn't clear about what I saw on YouTube: It was a video version of the photo and more than just a few frames. It depicts Paul and Billie talking to each other and looking through the script. Granted I only looked at it in the tiny thumbnail preview but it looked like it moved smoothly.
Yeah, I feel that, especially regarding any rumors about Paul McGann.
...and the one time we did get him in a mini-special, it was a complete shocker (at least for me).
It does feel like we have crossed a line in the past week into a world that scares me. Fake Doctor Who or Avengers images are harmless enough but how long before someone ends up in prison thanks to convincing fake evidence.

Even with not convincing evidence and conspiracy theories there were people who ended up in prison and did terrible things. Like all other technology, the world will have to adapt. It would really help if all countries could come together to pass laws to regulate it. Unfortunately, some refuse to. So A.I. is at this point a dog doing zoomies.
The AI images still make me physically uneasy (it's a strange dizzy/nauseous effect).
