The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

It's worth noting that the Mandalorian and Grogu has a budget that just over a third of that of The Rise of Skywalker, so it won't have to be as successful at the box office as past Star Wars movies have been in order to to be successful.
I didn't realize the budget was that much smaller, I had assumed it was going to be the same as all of the other movies.

Apparently the full interview says that the movie is not Season 4 condensed into a movie, or a season 4 story at all, but a completely separate story. Season 4 is written however.

Favreau “We were planning on doing a fourth season. I had actually written all of that. I still have Season 4 sitting on my desk here.”

Now whether that season 4 ever gets made or any further Mando/Grogu story after their movie and the potential "wrap uf Mando/Grogu/Ashoka movie" who knows.

Third season is fine. It is different because the story has shifted due to the season long goals. And probably covering a few plot points that would likely have been covered in the Rangers of the New Republic show.

I liked Season 3 just as much as the first two.
This could explain why it sounds like the movie's a fairly contained stand alone adventures. I had been expecting it to be a bit more closely tied to the story threads from the last couple seasons, but it would make sense if they're saving that kind of stuff for the fourth season.

High energy film to cover the remaining plot points that would have been in the Rangers of the New Republic series? Before continuing on with season four and the second season of Ahsoka? Though we do not know if there will be any more live action streaming series after Ahsoka next year.

Now that you mention it.... Ahsoka season 2 is the only confirmed streaming show for SW right now, isn't it?
