Kamen Rider and General Tokusatsu

I wouldn't mind seeing Janperson revived. While inspired by RoboCop, he was a pure robot, so he could still be around today.

Jiraiya was one of my favorites, although it was a poor fit under the Metal Heroes banner, since Jiraiya's ninja armor (and that of his kid sister) was mostly cloth rather than metal. That was an interesting show, because the man who played Jiraiya's mentor was the actual head of a leading ninja school, the person who popularized ninjutsu as a sport and pop-culture phenomenon and was a consultant for You Only Live Twice, playing a fictionalized version of himself (with his voice dubbed).

Some version of Juspion could be a good candidate as a Sentai replacement. Though he was very like the Space Sheriffs in other respects, he fought giant monsters and his ship could turn into a giant robot.

So they're using the names from the Metal Heroes series, but it's not going to actually be it's not going to be a Metal Heroes series? Or are they combining the Sentai and Metal Heroes into one series?

So far all we know is that they're using the Uchuu Keiji Gavan name. The rest is speculation or rumor.

Looks like each seasons will now be halved

I assume it will be a bit like kingohger where a new arc occurs around 25th episode

They’ve been kinda building up to this with kingohger, Gavv and boonboomger have quarters with new posters marking the shift

This also means some characters might leave and some new characters show up

Kikaider Reboot is coming January 2026 (via Discotek's FB):

Apparently there will be something concerning Universal Heroes after episode 40 of Gozyuger tomorrow

I wonder if it's going be something like this

I just discovered something interesting. I was thinking about how a lot of Japanese action heroines, like the Pretty Cures and quite a few Pink Rangers (starting with Momorenger, the original), have heart symbols on their costumes. I've always figured that the use of that symbol was adopted from the West, and it occurred to me to wonder how old the heart symbol was. It turns out that while the modern use of that symbol to represent the heart, love, etc. dates to 15th- or 16th-century Europe, the shape has been used in Japan since antiquity, where it's called Inome (猪目), "wild boar's eye." It represents the courage of a boar and has traditionally been used to ward off evil spirits.

So that's a really neat double-layered symbolism for toku/anime heroines using the symbol. Part of it, surely, is drawing on the Western symbolism of the heart for love and kindness and girly stuff, but to Japanese audiences, it simultaneously evokes courage, strength, and the fight against evil. So it's far more appropriate for action-hero costumes than I realized. And maybe it helps explain why Japanese creators and audiences don't see an incongruity in portraying heart-costumed heroines as tough and aggressive. (Momorenger was easily the most lethal of the Gorengers, since she was their demolition expert, using exploding earrings and providing the bombs used in their finisher attacks.)

I only wish I'd known that when I wrote my Tangent Knights toku-inspired audiodrama trilogy, since Tangent Knight Caprice's upgraded armor has a subtly heart-themed design, and this would've been a great added detail to explain her choice.

Gozyuger episode 39 just aired. Episode 40 pictures released for next week. It's going to be a long overdue Halloween episode.

Here she is......

Zeztz Case #11: "Rot" was fairly effective, with some tension between Baku and Fujimi over how to pursue the case, and a bit between "Seven" and Zero about prioritizing the Dreamer over the "national secret." The miniaturized Rider fight in the climax was very imaginative, though I suspect they were inspired by Ant-Man.

And I should've seen it coming -- the national secret is a second Rider belt. Although according to the wiki, his transformed identity is the Nox Knight, and he's categorized as a Debatable Rider. Maybe it's one of those cases where an armored villain doesn't graduate to full Rider status until they do a face turn and join the good guys.

Zeztz practically went into the quantum realm by going sub atomic.

The program taking over sentai's timeslot during the Super Hero Time block has been revealed

The Universe Heroes franchise is officially titled Project R.E.D. with the first installment being Gavan Infinity

R.E.D. stands for "Records of Extraordinary Dimensions," and we have a new Twitter for it.

So to get it straight. Universe Heroes is the brand title; Project Red is the arc title like Marvel phases

- 50 Years of Super Sentai is "Pretty Good".

Maybe it might come back one day in the future like Kamen Rider did when it had it's long hiatus.

But for now, let's enjoy "Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity"

Hopefully Jumonji Geki will finally get his own TV show.

Interesting. The "R.E.D." branding seems to be a way to create resonance with Sentai while being distinct from it. Odd, though, to see a version of Gavan wearing red when Sharivan was the red-armored Space Sheriff (Gavan was silver and Shaider blue). Heck, Sharivan even had "red" in his henshin phrase, "Red Shot" (Sekisha).

You know what would be hilarious, if all the Space Sheriff's upgraded forms change colors.

Gavan goes from Silver -> Red
Shaider goes from Blue -> (Another Color)
Sharivan goes from Red -> (Another Color)

The official Project R.E.D. press release, English version:

"The project is slated to have numerous upcoming broadcast series with potential for crossovers within PROJECT R.E.D." One at a time, or maybe simultaneous?

Officially in Toei the Super Sentai brand is ending

Some in the fandom quietly call it a rebrand with Gavan infinity mixing Super Sentai elements like same toy concepts with Metal Hero

And the term universe heroes was fan conjecture based on Thailand distributor's mistranslation of japanese title of Project RED into English.

Project R.E.D has been trademarked
