Shirakura acknowledged rn kamen rider (zeztz) might be more popular in China compared to Japan And regarding toei's expectations, it could be said that the series meet & fell under their expectations lol

"Case16: Escape": It's "Happy Nem Year," but Nem is hardly in the episode since her role is to be the kidnap victim. It's more about reconciling Baku with Zero and having a big motorcycle chase, prior to a Nox/Zero confrontation that goes badly for Zero -- but could be worse, since of course, Zero is a human who's been remote-controlling the CODE Zeroider motorcycle-robot from some unseen location. Or at least so we've been told, but I have to wonder if there's more to it than that, since why would the newly upgraded Kamen Rider Nox be so determined to destroy Zeroider if it's just a teleoperated drone? Then again, maybe his goal was to retrieve that object he pulled out of Zeroider. Perhaps he means to track its signal to find the real Zero.

I liked Minami throwing herself into the role of Baku's "manager" in his agent job, much the way she manages her official clients. I'm glad she's in the loop now, since it offers the chance for new character interactions between her and the cops. (And I suppose they can come and go by the front door now instead of the window.)

The YouTube channel seems to have settled into showing its first 5-second commercial break during the main title song -- luckily during the "All I wanted was..." rap verse, which is my least favorite part of the song (I've never cared for rap). I wish they'd just put them in the actual commercial breaks, though.

Gavan Infinity looks interesting. Three Gavans, one female, all apparently with female partners like the original Space Sheriffs. Gavan Bushido is in traditional Japanese dress -- maybe a modern samurai, like Lupin III's Goemon. Looks like a lot of ship action instead of giant robots.

Zeztz: I neglected to comment on "Case 17: Pursue" last week. It resolves the arc of Nem's abduction, but it seems to forget that several missing people were mentioned in the first half, IIRC. It was hinted that Minami's comedian client Cardboard Sempai might be one of them, but that proved a false alarm. We learn that The Lady, Nox's employer, was involved with Nem's disappearance 4 years ago and has made contact with Baku under the guise of Sayuri Ando, a sleep expert. Zero is still missing, but a new boss, apparently Code Number Three, has appeared in his place. Nox continues to be ambiguous, not interfering with Baku's mission once he realizes it's not on CODE's behalf, and destroying the Nightmare once it's served its purpose.

A highlight for toku fans was the location for the climactic battle, the Shimokubo Dam in Saitama, a classic location used frequently in 1970s-80s tokusatsu shows, not seen as often in newer shows that generally use dams of more recent vintage.

"Case 18: Shoot": They're going for kind of a Battle Royale homage, though it's a Nightmare playing a killing game vs. the students rather than pitting them against each other. It seems Natsuka is the dreamer at first, but it turns out to be her friend Kureha, played by KingOhger's Yuzuki Hirakawa -- and apparently a recurring role now, since she's another former CODE agent. I didn't recognize her face, since she usually kept it half-hidden as Rita on KingOhger, but I recognized the voice and the tough, somber attitude.

The new boss, Three, is pretty cold and harsh, a new obstacle to Baku learning the secrets Zero promised to share. I suspect he'll turn out rather villainous, connected to the darkness in CODE that Nox and The Lady keep talking about.

I like getting to see Rina Onuki (Nasuka) show off her athleticism with the basketball scene. It's a reminder of her strong, athletic character in Kamen Rider Geats, where she was around for only a few episodes but left a strong impression that made me want to see more, so I was glad she became a regular here.

Zeztz episode 18

Yuzuki Hirakawa did the scream! That was a highlight if anyone watched KingOhger

Rina Onuki knows her stuff with basketball. She was appointed as the main MC and PR ambassador for the Tokyo United Basketball Club

Driving home the "Not Sentai" each cast member/Gavan were introduced separately. There is no team dynamic. They might work together briefly but they won't form a team.

They seem to all be from different universes too. The multiverse is supposed to play a part somehow.

The use of color correction in the trailer made me wonder if each universe will have a distinct color tinge to differentiate it.

I was wondering if the Metal Heroes Wiki would be the one covering this show, but instead Fandom has started a dedicated PROJECT R.E.D. Wiki: https://project-red.fandom.com/wiki/PROJECT_R.E.D._Wiki

The latest trailer.

From all the various Space Ship colors, why do I get the feeling there are more/different colored Gavans that we haven't been made aware of yet.

That's the point of having a multiverse: you can have infinite Gavans. You can even have a crossover with Gavan 2.0 obviously from a different cosmo layer. On and on...

So by the end of the season, a "All Space Sheriff" Cross Over?
Gavan 1.0
Gavan 2.0
Sharivan 2.0
Shaider 2.0
Gavan Infinitie MultiVerse (All the Gavan's across Project R.E.D.)

"Case19: Decide": A pretty important episode, as Baku and Nem both learn secrets that make them question who they are and what they believe. Baku realizes that he and Kureha were both trained from childhood to be dream agents, and that's where his love of secret agents seems to come from. But of course, he ends up deciding his desire to help people is real even if he doesn't know what else is. And Kureha remembers her erased past as Code Number Six, and it looks like she'll be our Tertiary Rider this season.

Nem's subconscious being the source of the Nightmares is reminiscent of Yui in Ryuki.

Man 25 years after KR AGITO looks so good.
Also celebrating 55th Anniversary of KR.

The New movie will release 2026/04-29 in Japan.

Key Visual

Interesting they're semi focusing on Kamen Rider Gills

The cast list has everyone returning except for Gills, which makes sense because his actor retire following some really bad scandals.

So from this article looks like we could be expecting more anniversary movies. This tells me we're likely to see the Kabuto anniversary movie as well.

I just hope they don't go overboard(HA!) and gore this and future anniversary films up. They did have a gory scene in the Faiz anniversary film

Gavan Infinity looks pretty cool, do we know yet how it's going to be released outside of Japan?
This reminds me, I need to get back to work on Zeztz. I had really bad timing starting it when I did, since I now also have new Shakespear & Hathaway, Fallout, and Starfleet Academy to watch. I was already watching Star Trek: DS9, and Fear The Walking Dead, and then when Hoopla added the Matt Smith Doctor Who's I got excited and started watching them too, not considering all of the other stuff I was already watching. I'm almost done with DS9, Fear, and Doctor Who, so I'll probably focus more on Zeztz once I've finished them.

Zeztz: "Case20: Presage": Okay, so it's a kid's (or multiple kids') adventure-quest RPG computer-game dream, I guess. Fun idea, and it's amusing to see Nem cast as the Yuusha (Hero) and Baku as a random NPC. At first, I thought the childlike Nightmare was going to be your standard-issue friendly/sympathetic monster that's the exception to the rule. Having it be weak and childlike but having Zeztz still fight it made him come off as kind of a bully.

So we don't get to see Kureha transform yet, but we will next week. Apparently she's not a Rider; she and the brutish guy who captured Nox are Lord Six and Lord Five, respectively. The name "Lords" was previously used for the monsters-of-the-week in Kamen Rider Agito.

oh, man the flashbacks to King-Ohger with all the greenscreen virtual sets...

I was reminded more of Ex-Aid by the use of the phrase "clear [the game] with no continues" in the promo and the sponsor screen text. (Come to think of it, what does that mean, exactly? Win without losing a life and starting over?)

I noticed they only seemed to be using greenscreen instead of the AR wall, even though the main title sequence makes heavy use of the AR wall/ceiling.

I wonder if Baku trying to teach Nem lucid dreaming will pay off. She is cast as the hero in this scenario, and it's her job to fulfill the roles she's cast in. So it wouldn't feel right if she weren't key to saving the day this time.

You won the (match/stage/challenge) 'without losing any lives' or having to use the 'continue playing' after losing all existing lives & resetting progress to the (beginning of the stage/last check point/last save) w/ a fresh set of lives.
