The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

What the heck? They turned Chuck E. Cheese into a cartoon.

Ah, hell, why not -- they're turned flimsy video games into films (Tetris anyone???), board games into films, movies about making cars, and a film about Pop Tarts.

Mark Wahlberg remaking the novel Headhunters for Apple (was originally turned into a 2011 Norwegian movie starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Wahlberg must be loving the streaming era because he continues to get overpaid for bad streaming movies after everyone's stopped going to his theatrical movies.

Wow, this is a surprise
Wait. Warner Bros and Atomic Monster are already in the midst of another remake of The Mummy (this one being a full-on supernatural horror like the original 1932 film). Why are they doing this? There's nothing to gain from this since, again, we already have a new, supposedly more faithful retelling in the works and there's no need to continue the adventures of the 1999 cast since said film was open-and-shut and Returns wrapped up any and all loose ends, as demonstrated by Tomb of the Dragon Emperor's ditching of ties to the larger mythos and resulting failure.

But, then again... Dwayne Johnson is already returning to the 1999 continuity for producing a Scorpion King sequel, so why NOT also bring back Brendan and Rachel to further exploit it?

How many Chuck E. Cheese are left?
A quick look at their website shows that they only have nine locations left in Washington, and none in the Greater Puget Sound area.

I've never personally experienced any of those kinds of places, but I've heard about them a lot.
I'm struggling to remember if I've ever been to a Chuck E Cheese for any reason. There were always other pizza places that provided better food and service for parties.

I went to Chuck E. Cheese once or twice as a kid because kids are easily influenced by marketing.

If you ever use a delivery app to order from Pasqually's Pizza & Wings, you're actually ordering from Chuck E. Cheese.

They certainly never turned anything at Chuck E. Cheese into food.

Who remembers Edward Burns' breakout movie The Brothers McMullen? (Who remembers Edward Burns?)

Just found out there's a legacy sequel 30 years later called The Family McMullen and it already came out (as a Fathom Event?).
