I recall an interview where Pegg mentioned something like Prey but starring Jaylah. I don't think it was more than a pitch and doubt it went anywhere.
“[Beyond co-writer] Doug [Jung] and I, we were going to write a spin-off about the character of Jaylah called ‘Jaylah and the Wolf.’ Sophia [Boutella], she did such a great job with her, and she was such a great character. We had this idea that Jaylah was going to go Starfleet Academy and she was going to be put into a group of cadets who were like problem cadets, who were called ‘The Wolf Pack’ and they were sent off to a real planet called Wolf 359 and would get into an adventure on this planet. Yeah, for a while we were working on that, but in the end, it just didn’t happen.”
They had Gorn and a salt vampire ready for ST'09, but cut them from the film.
If there's one more outing, may as well find a way to incorporate both them in the film.
The only thing they could get done quickly in time is a P+ streaming movie of that Jaylah and the Wolf idea that was revealed a month or so ago.

I feel as though the ship for a 4th Kelvin-verse movie has sailed. It's been too long since Beyond came out and with the law of diminishing returns that happened with Into Darkness and Beyond there just really doesn't seem to be all that much of a demand for a 4th movie by many people. Personally, I'd love a 4th movie, but I just don't see it happening.
Any Trek movie with original characters will have to introduce us to them, and to a lesser extent, their world (the planet/ship/status of the Federation, etc. - those things specific to the film and the era it takes place) A movie with familiar characters can have a bit less of that because many people will already know who they are.
Not saying it isn't possible, just that a movie can spend time on other things rather than character introduction from scratch or be shorter if the filmmakers so desire and that information is still available elsewhere to those who want to see it.
If you want context, you can watch episodes of the show; if you don't, you can just watch the movie; you might miss out on extra layers (so that's why they did that) but you can still enjoy what you do see.
