Do we know for sure he got into shape for one of the Avengers movies? I'm pretty sure he's done other action movies, and as far as I know there's nothing that would stop him from doing more non-Marvel action movies.
He has nothing announced and when people start hitting the super-serum in that way, they have a film locked...

The thread title says "spoiler heavy"
Spoilers for movies that were released already. Not for ones that don't come out for another 15 months.

Most of it's just speculation at this point and doesn't really cover any story details from the movie. He could just be visiting the set for all we know. Or he might have a small role or big role.
When is it ever "just visiting"?

Millie Bobby Brown visited the Infinity War sets sitting with the Russo Brothers, but she had no role in the movie.
Yep--visits from those not contracted to be in the production they're visiting is common, but when it comes to some desperate for what is guaranteed to be an explosively stupid move from Disney / Marvel Studios (I doubt they would acknowledge why) by having Evans back in that role, whether he's a "prime" or "multiverse variant", when they have their main Captain America who should be promoted beyond one underperforming film with a course correction.

Then it is true! The movie is going to feature Captain America! Think about it. He wouldn't get supper ripped again just for a cameo. His role must be huge.
If the Cap role is not portrayed by Mackie, its not Cap.

That's different. She hasn't played any character from Marvel yet. Chris Evans though played one of it's top guys. Having him on set, especially with RDJ back also will definitely raise eyebrows. I doubt he would want to draw that kind of attention to himself by visiting.

Mackie as Captain America is in the movie as well. I am thinking their might be some time travel involved to bring back Evans Captain America or a alternate timeline version.

Unnecessary and a distraction that will fuel the always hostile mob behind the "Only-Rogers-is-the-real-Captain-America" screaming.
Rogers or to be more exact Chris Evans is most people's favorite. I don't see this as a bad thing though for Mackie. Since people didn't like the last Captain America movie this is a chance to see the character again with hopefully better writing with him interacting with better characters. If he has a few great moments in the movie it gives him a chance to continue on in the role. Which might keep them from recasting the character for this new MCU they want to make where I am guessing their will several recasts. I think they even want to do it with Iron Man as well.
