NFL 2025: A new era dawns?

On this date 24 years ago, Drew Bledsoe suffered a severe injury during a game and the Patriots had to play some no-name QB from Michigan who was drafted in the sixth round.

White road jersey was fine, home creamsicle was not.
You are wrong. Bill is right. Creamsicle is best.

I don't know what the Cowboys are going to turn into this year. They'll probably manage to beat the Packers this weekend and then follow it up with a loss to Bosie State. That's usually the way of it.

This could be a long year and it sucks when the Cowboys suck because it can never be "Dallas doesn't look strong this year," it always has to be, "Haha! Jerry Jones is stupid and eats suck! Cowboys will probably never win another game in all of the future of all time forever! Tom Landry was a cheater and hahahahahah..."

it makes discussing sports no fun. I'm happy to talk about my team like any other team having a bad year. But nope, we'll just dig up all the old Romo insults and just put "Dak" where the name goes. Dealing with that stuff gets really old really quickly.

That out of the way, right now I'm bracing for the worst but I've seen some things in the first 3 games from Brian Schottenheimer that provide some room for optimism.

Matt Eberflus and the defense, oh it's concerning, but did any of the sports pundits saying he should be fired after 3 games, did any of them stop muse outloud when he took this job in the spring one Micha Parsons was under contract to play for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025 and all signs (back then) still pointed to this looking pretty unremarkable. Then like 10 days before the season he's told the All-World player he planned on basing his defense around, oh yeah, he's not going to be here, so figure that shit by Thursday afternoon, mkay? Tootles!"

Yeah, they're all pros and the job has to get done, but we're also allowed to recognize when unexpected circumstances might require some adjustments that will probably take some time to integrate. I'm not saying this is a great defense, I'm just saying we don't know what it will be, but we do know the start of the season threw Eberflus some curve balls.

The Giants will be without RB Tyrone Tracy and, possibly, WR Malik Nabors (didn't practice Wednesday due to shoulder issue) vs. the Chargers. Good luck, Jaxson Dart!

Seriously, Daboll and Schoen should both be fired for running a rookie QB out there with little to no support system.

I just watched a couple of videos on YouTube.
Apparently, Daboll didn't tell the team that he was replacing Wilson with Dart as starting quarterback and the way the team found out was through social media and when reporters asked them as team members were showing up for training camp.
If Daboll hasn't lost the team yet, he will soon.

Wouldn't it be wild for the Giants if Daniel Jones wins a Super Bowl after Saquon Barkley won one last year? It would really make the Giants look like an incompetent franchise.
I so don't want this for Daboll. Poor man. He's the Charlie Brown of the NFL. Next time the TV cuts to him, put him in a little yellow shirt and a thought bubble above his head "Oh good grief."

Tell me I'm wrong.

Sanders should probably shut up. Dude couldn't beat out Flacco and Gabriel on the Browns.

Tom Savage's reign as the starting QB for the Texans lasted one half of the first game of the season, and then they benched him for rookie Deshaun Watson. Savage's agent went nuts and said he couldn't understand the decision. Who remembers Tom Savage?

There was also this QB who said this after he was drafted: "Nine mistakes were made ahead of me. And I will make sure over the next decade or so that they will know that they made a mistake."

Did anyone watch the Giants game? Russell Wilson throwing the ball away on fourth down, throwing the ball down the tunnel on an obvious intentional grounding, he looked like someone who shouldn't be out there. On the other hand, the Chargers are a good team. Wait one more week and let Dart feast on the Saints.

My preference is to allow rookie QB’s to sit a year and learn. Especially on a bad team. So many of these guys are sent onto the field woefully underprepared and expected to be a savior.
