Walken on SNL tonight

Clearly, I don't get SNL over here but I saw this thread and looked for it and managed to download it, god bless internet, so now I've seen it.

Oh man I nearly fell of my chair.

I think it was a pretty good show. Ok I don't normally watch it so I dunno how it compares to their usual ones but I enjoyed it a lot.

Admittedly, I'm the most hardcore Walken fan you'll ever know so I guess I'm biased a little.
Still I laughed to tears to some of the sketches, although some were less funny than the others. The one with chefs was retarded, and the one with everyone being a Walken was kinda funny and cringing at the same time. I liked the questions on cue cards thing, wouldn't have been good if it was done by anyone else but Walken, cos he's a scary enough bastard to pull it off. He was like, the grumpy Walken, I like the grumpy Walken.

Wtf is it with reading lines off cue cards in sketches though, so blatantly he didn't even bother looking at anyone in the scenes? That was a bit weird. Did I miss something? Was that deliberate?

Walken is notorious for that, although it WAS a lot more in this one than usual. Still, the SNL cast and crew say he's one of their favorite hosts, and once you buy into the fact that he'll be reading a lot, you can actually enjoy him for that very reason.

I'm wondering if he was a late fill-in choice, or in some way had less time to prepare for this one than the other times he's hosted.

Yeah I know, it's just weird cos it was so extreme. Don't worry though, I always enjoy the Walken. Hardcore fan.

And is it just me or did he also look much better than he usually does, in recent times I mean? I guess it could be the makeup and/or the dyed hair/wigs... it's just that in most of his public appearances over the past couple of years he seems to have looked like a corpse. I was quite chuffed to see him not look 90 years old for a change.
