But, even if that was what he meant, it would still be free speech.
This isn't a free speech issue. It's an at will employment issue.

If you do something lame and stupid that embarrasses your bosses, and they haul you in to a meeting and tell you to cut it out, and your response is "fuck that", you're basically asking to be fired. That's how employment works. Most people working in the US today would be fired immediately if they were caught disrespecting one of the sacred castes of progressivism.

A job as a talk show host is not a human right.

Only difference is that Kimmel and Colbert are not embarrassments to the networks they work for. They bring/brought high ratings and multiple awards, and the companies make lots of money from them. Audiences continue to follow them and enjoy their programs. It's the Trump administration and its groupies who can't stand anyone disagreeing or even questioning their views on anything.

If the President weren't such a childish sociopath, no one would care about their jokes. The right to criticize, mock or complain about our leaders is a fundamental right, a bedrock of our democracy. To deny that right is to turn your back on democracy itself.

It's fascism, pure and simple and the moron in the White House has said many times how much he admires tyrants. He wants to be a dictator and will crush anyone who doesn't cave in to his tantrums.

This infantile thug won't stop until he gets his wish. He doesn't care about our rights, he doesn't care about the Constitution or the law.

That's not a President. That's a thug. We don't need Mob Boss, we need a President.

The government threatening the networks to do what they want or else is most definitely a freedom of speech issue.

Kimmel didn't say anything embarrassing or offensive.
Lying about the shooter is indeed offensive, and presumably potentially embarrassing to ABC executives. ( Though with Kimmel's history of douchebaggery, who knows? )

Kimmel's ratings were in free fall and the Colbert show was losing money, not making it.

He never said the shooter was MAGA. The true leanings of the shooter (which are still not settled) have no bearing on MAGA really not wanting him to be one of them. Besides, Kimmel could have come out and said "a lot of people think the guy is MAGA" and likely no one would have noticed. It was the accusation that they were using the killing for political points that made the angry, too close to home.

He never said the shooter was MAGA.
He did. Words and their meanings, so hard!

The thing is, he didn't have to go there. He didn't have to participate in the fuckery just because he saw some online trolls were doing it. But he's both a moron and an asshole, so he couldn't resist.
The true leanings of the shooter (which are still not settled)
Don't you think this ill-advised propaganda campaign is past its sell-by date by now? Are you somehow hoping for a win if you just hold out long enough?

no, he said Maga didn't want him to be maga, unless you have a different quote than the one we are discussing.

Blind squirrels and nuts…Cruz will at least keep non-Elon space alive.

I loved Colbert the best. He’s pro-space and played Birdman’s boss on ADULT SWIM. A fellow nerd.

Kimmel and Corolla were better on THE MAN SHOW together than separately.

Jimmie cried when Don Rickles passed away…I will never forget that. He had a reverence for Old Hollywood.

Fallon is fine.

I can’t stand Seth…the Jessie Pinkman of late night. He just looks like a punk.
