This is sort of the opposite of Paramount. Nexstar has to get the FCC to waive existing rules about percentages of market share in order to get the merger approved. Legally they shouldn't get approved. Paramount had a uncomplicated merger get held up.
How exactly is that good? Are you in favor of fascism and denying public figures their right to free speech? What the fuck?

Yes, murder is unacceptable. But the American media is exactly that—a place where everyone can make fun of everything—at least since the '90s. Don't turn yourselves into Turkish media, or into the American media of the '60s. I'd write more, but I don't want to be warned.
Just to add an example, about a year ago, I was searching for some information on where Snowpiercer's 4th season would air, seeing as every prior season had been picked up on Netflix internationally. Every article I'd looked up mentioned it would air on AMC+, which Canada doesn't have. Some deep digging led me to find out it would be on Crave, which was not at all obvious. I think I had also looked on JustWatch, which had no info on where to watch the 4th season for Canadians.
One young man whose political affiliations are so far not publicly known with varied opposing claims floating online does not constitute "the left". And yes, murderers should be punished accordingly.
But jokes about murder, while arguably distasteful, are still free speech and as such protected by the First Amendment in the United States.
When Melissa Hortman and her husband were murdered earlier this year, a lot of public figures on the right publicly mocked what happened, not even to mention the reactions on the attempted murder of Nancy Pelosi's husband, and a lot of the same public figures are now among those crying about decency and decorum when it was they themselves who helped get rid of these ideas.
Meanwhile, the Kimmel cancellation is just the most prominent case, there is a whole website dedicated to doxing private citizens for their free speech. Regular people have lost their jobs and received death threats, in some cases for nothing more than posting quotes or clips of Charlie Kirk, because apparently it has now become offensive to even quote what the man publicly said himself.
Also, in the case of Kimmel - who didn't even joke about the murder, but about the reactions of MAGA to that murder and the identity of the murderer - , the head of the FCC himself got involved, making this very much a First Amendment issue.
Also meanwhile, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade called for homeless people to be killed, "Just kill them" is the direct quote, and that same day there are mass shootings at homeless camps in Minneapolis, with multiple deaths and injuries. Now, Kilmeade apologized since, but comparing Kimmel's comments to Kilmeade's, isn't "Just kill them" far worse and unambiguous than "We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them"?
Now, to be clear, I am not calling for the cancelation of Brian Kilmeade, but some consistency would be nice.
