NFL 2025: A new era dawns?

Whose idea was it for two Monday Night games? The fourth quarter started after midnight Eastern and the game will end around 1 a.m. Happens every year.
Sounds like Goodell had his hand in the mix. I don't think he's made the best decisions as Commissioner over the years.

I suspect he had acquired some top-shelf blackmail material on Jerry Jones or some other League principals to land him that job.

Falcons make Younghoe Koo inactive for game 2 after he missed the game-tying FG in week 1 and his replacement goes 5-for-5. Doesn't matter how elite Koo was, he's not elite now and it's time for the Falcons to move on. Kickers are like closers in baseball with how fast they can flame out. That's the life.
This is common sports knowledge and every drunk know-it-all in the bar will agree with you.

And I disagree. Some do better/worse when pressed, that's real, But Koo, nor any other kicker, goes from elite to crap. Humans are just shitty at understanding statistics and randomness.

I make 9, miss 1 make 9, miss 1, until I've taken 100 kicks and I'm at 90% and I'm getting a $10m 3-year deal. I make my first 90 and then miss the next 10, I go from the greatest kicker of time to the biggest downward slide in sports history!

Both are 90% after 100 kicks.

Humans are really really dumb at that stuff.

Plenty you can blame on him, but I think this one is more ABC/ESPN's doing. Part of the original deal when MNF became SNF and moved from ABC to NBC was that the Sunday night game would be the network marquee matchup. I'm sure NBC wanted this because they didn't want Monday Night momentum to keep that as the game-of-the-week in the general public.

Once SNF became well established as the featured game and the TV landscape went through the Streamosoic Extinction Event, it seems like ABC/ESPN has been able to get a bit more in subsequent negotiations.

Yes, the NFL anytime they can snag a spot outside Sunday 1:00, 4:00, 8:20, but the players and coaches hate those games because they break the routine, and they have a big voice there. We usually don't see it, but they're putting in their $.02.

While I don't know if he had as much to do with this one, Goodell is probably the weakest NFL commish, like, ever? Since 1946 it's been Bell, Rozelle, Tags and now Goodell. The other major Commish, Joseph Carr, guided the league from--today I guess a fly-by-night cockfighting league would be the closest example--and laid down the foundation that would see the NFL outreach every team sport other than soccer.

I suspect he had acquired some top-shelf blackmail material on Jerry Jones or some other League principals to land him that job.
Jerry Jones brags about what you couldn't blackmail other people with.

Well crap...
Jayden Daniels continues to follow in nearly the same footsteps as RG3, even in roughly the same time-frame. I guess this is nearly always what happens to running QB's. :sigh:
Could turn into a Cunningham instead of a Griffin.

So that's Happy Days or a hideous monster. Hey, that works! :rommie:
