Oh, yeah! I forgot about the Titan A.E. style ice formations - it was cool to see them when watching that ep (S4 finale: "Old Friends, New Planets")

I love this. It's so neat that a real place shares its name like this with a fictional ship

I had a thought, despite being close friends the main characters rarely, if at all, used each other's first names, even when off duty.

Yeah, I always find that a little odd as well, but it seems to be a US thing, as people in US movies and shows are calling friends by their last name all the time for some reason. That’s very much not a thing here in Germany, where you would almost always address a friend by their first name.

It's not really a thing in real life in the States either. At least not in my experience. The only time it ever really happens is if two people have the same first name and others need to distinguish them.

It's not even a thing in the USN. All the enlisted in my work center had nicknames, and we called them that or by first names, depending on their preference, except for the Chief, you always called him by his rank. The chief would always call the other enlisted in the shop by nicknames or first name. The officers were always referred to by the enlisted as sir or mister, or the Department Head by the name of his Department. The officers always referred to the enlisted by last name or if an NCO's Petty Officer last name or Chief last name.
