I was wondering about this too. When I initially responded in this thread, I considered it watching 2 maybe 3 episodes a day, but perhaps not every day. I think some may define it as marathon watching for long stretches of time.Is the term “binging” synonymous with “watching” now? Or does a binge necessarily mean watching a lot of it really quickly, as in 2-4 episodes a day? Or more?
Ever since I started getting the DVDs I’d go through the shows an episode a day. Maybe that’s a binge? I find I can’t watch more than a single episode of something in one day, unless it’s an extended or maybe two part episode. I just get sick of anything if i watch too much of it.
For me, when it comes to watching or rewatching a series, slow and steady does it.
I should've called my thread "Binging DS9 and B5!" The most slow-motion binge ever!In my mind “binging” is merely the counterpart to watching a show “regularly”, i.e. every week when a new episode is broadcast; like back in the olden days of linear television. IIRC, the whole idea of “binging” came up with the advent of streaming platforms like Netflix, where it’s common practice to drop an entire season of a show all at once and people will watch it over the course of say a weekend. This idea of watching entire seasons or even shows in just a few sittings in quick succession got then transferred over to old shows as well, and binging became to mean something more broadly along the lines of “watching all of a show (or season) over the course of X amount of time”, where the exact time doesn’t really matter. It’s just what you’re doing when you’re watching a completed season or show after the fact, as opposed to every week when new episodes come out. So yeah, I guess in a way “binging” just means watching a show now.![]()
Yes, English orthography is the worst. My real issue with the word “binging” is the way it’s spelled. I kind of wish it was written as “binjing”. Or even “bingeing.” “Binging” looks like it should be pronounced “bing-ing”, as though it’s some kind of sound.

Only if you want to watch the best Star Trek show ever made.
The best series in the franchise is TOS. DS9 is the SECOND best.Greetings, and welcome aboard!
Absolutely, DS9 is worth a binge watch! It has excellent characters that get fantastic growth, has great storylines, treats the audience with intelligence, wonderful drama, and is full of the moral questions and situations that you'd expect from the best of STAR TREK. It tackles subjects that were rarely touched upon (or at the very least, only glanced at and left behind) in other shows. DS9 helped expand the STAR TREK universe greatly.
In short, DEEP SPACE NiNE is THE best series in the franchise.
Everyone's got their favorite. TOS certainly has a great deal going for it. I love TOS. I'd probably place it 3rd place, right after TNG.The best series in the franchise is TOS. DS9 is the SECOND best.
I'd agree it's the best spin-off, yes.Everyone's got their favorite. TOS certainly has a great deal going for it. I love TOS. I'd probably place it 3rd place, right after TNG.
I'm sure we can agree that DS9 is the best spinoff of the franchise?
Definitely is worth of watching, and what happen in the second part of the show is extremely important for the chronology. So I was never really that into Star Trek until relatively recently. I would occasionally put re-runs on in the background, but that's about it. I was a bit too young to really "get it" when TNG first aired. However now, I've started watching TNG in its entirety and I'm loving it so far. I know that once I finish TNG, I'm gonna be craving more. I vaguely remember back in the day, DS9 being a bit controversial among fans. Like I said, I was never really into it, so I didn't pay much mind to the debates surrounding it. So, is DS9 worth binge watching, or should I just skip it?
