Literally the only thing the two makeups have as a common factor is ear size and the general shape of the nose.

How are they ruining the species?
The premise that, since their defeat and surrender at the climax of DS9, the Dominion has undergone changes, if not that it has ceased to exist altogether, is, at least at this juncture, refreshing, to say the least. The premise that nothing has changed in the Dominion, including the Jem'Hadar, would be the opposite of that.
It's been eight hundred years since we last saw the Dominion, and Odo did promise reforms. The Jem'Hadar are an engineered race to begin with, so to see eight hundred years later they how have at least two genders and can presumably procreate naturally is not ruining at all.
The Jem' Hadar were supposed to be genetically created war machines, ruthless killers who killed everything in their wat. They were only obeying the Founders and the Vortas.
Now they are just another tamed species, meek loyal followers of the Federation.
A lot can and should change in 800 years.

So you see one female Jem’Hadar in the teaser and suddenly you are absolutely certain that too much has changed about them in 800 years. We barely know anything about Lura Thok at this point; this is ridiculous.

Then apply that to societies a lot more advanced in genetics than we are now.
Not all of them. We’ve seen quite a few Jem’hadar in DS9 go against the Vorta and less often, the Founders.
They do have free will. If they were completely loyal they wouldn’t need to be addicted to the white.

I wish other things had changed. They are still using the orange doors at this new academy that were on Pikes Enterprise. Same neon lighting everywhere. Lol

History would beg to differ. 800 years ago in Europe life expectancy averaged around 40 and the mechanical clock was a technological achievement.
With the Jem'Hadar we simply don't know enough to know what they would look like outside of Dominion control. Their lives are highly structured and bred but they doesn't mean it's natural nor a system that continued for nearly a millennium after their defeat.

And yes, what you mention in your post is exactly what's wrong. The problem is that SFAis a spin-off of DSC, the worst Star Trek series ever and one of the worst series ever if we count other series than Star Trek.
But you're right. I'll stick to TOS, TNG, DS9 and the first three seasons of VOY. I'm finished with current Star Trek. It will never get any better.
And since the TrekLit authors seem set for "the new era" too and are constantly killing off and destroying characters from TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY to make room for those new characters, there's nothing to find there either except to hunt for books from the era when Trek was good. A pity that they are so expensive now.
