What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

and all the Bullshit of people not being able to separate a fictional character they don't like from the actor playing him or her.

I seem to recall them 'playing' on/with that sometimes when he was a guest on Big Bang Theory but for the life o' me I wouldn't be able to find the episodes.

Yes. One enhances the other. 🧐
I live in Western New York, so the Bills are the home town team. I am still upset that they lost four Superbowls in a row...

But! Just to be really contrary I vastly prefer Star Trek.

I know, extremely shocking.

I love the puzzle of the technology.

Take time and listen to the dialog. Reveals much.

For example, based, just based on the dialog, one would conclude that computers aren't that useful. Huh??

And then pray that the Bills get to, and win the Superbowl.

Except they are still working about the same amount of days.

Berman era: 26 episodes x 6 day shoots = 156 shooting days

Now: 10 episodes x 14 day shoots = 140 shooting days

I get the flexibility for actors argument, but there is not a huge difference in amount of shooting days between them.

(Cost argument, I can see that.)
The scheduling is different, previous eras were more like a regular job, so they shot almost year round, with a couple of months off between seasons. Nowadays, it's more compact schedule lasting around six months.

Kes was a poorly-conceived character from the start, but 'Fury' was Star Trek's worst-ever character return.
its one of my favorite voyager episodes. they could have made two more parts of batshit crazy-angry-god Kes just throwing people around and destroying stuff. there's no harm in it. ship will be find next episode.

i wouldn't mind longer than 10 episode seasons. Maybe 15 would be good
I agree. We don't need 26 like the old days, but maybe 13-15? I'd be fine with them cutting the per episode budget to make that happen. In fact, I think that could be beneficial. TNG and DS9 both benefitted from needing to make low-cost bottle episodes from time to time giving us classics like "The Drumhead" and "Duet."

Yeah you can do lower cost personal focus episodes

I liked the character from the start. I thought it was kind of clever to create a alien with such a short life span. We could have seen her entire growth from young women to old women over the 7 years the show was on.

I liked the concept of the character, and agree that there was a lot of potential in the concept, but they did absolutely nothing interesting with it except in alternate timelines. The relationship with Neelix has not aged well, and that's all I will say on that point. Even if Jennifer Lien's personal issues hadn't gotten her written out of the show, I can't imagine they would have done anything to upset the status quo of the character until maybe aging her up in the last couple of episodes in preparation for the finale and pretend that its character development.
