I've always thought that if the audio from Secret of Vulcan Fury were ever recovered that a fun Fan made animated film could be made from it. Sadly it's almost 30 years now, and I don't suppose some magic hard drive is going to finally show up with the audio.

Finding this long lost game would be a gamer's dream come true.

Star Trek: Secret of Vulcan Fury is a cancelled action-adventure game, in development by Interplay Entertainment from 1997 until its cancellation in 1999. Based on the Star Trek: The Original Series license, the game would have followed Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise through a series of adventures regarding the Vulcan and Romulan races. Secret of Vulcan Fury was to have been the latest in a series of games produced by Interplay based on the license. It would have featured a control method similar to those seen in LucasArts games of that period, and nearly seven hours of full motion video capture using clay models.

The storyline was written by former Star Trek writer D.C. Fontana, while the script was created by John Meredyth Lucas. A promotional cereal competition was run in conjunction with Quaker Oats. Despite this promotion, the game was cancelled with estimates placing it at only 5% completion. The cast of The Original Series had already recorded their voices.

Unless it's in an archive somewhere

wouldn't it be much simpler to just take the script and fix it up if needed, and recast the characters?

But it likely would not get made, the script and whatever recordings and artwork already produced are the property of Paramount (or whomever owns Trek now).

He's still active on Facebook; I follow him there because I keep hoping one day to be able to afford to commission a TOS uniform from him.
I had a look at his Facebook, a year's worth, and pretty much all he talks about are the costume/props/ insignia/braids replicas that he sells (to his credit they do look very good!).
I don't really feel like trudging through hundreds of FB postings to discover the reasons why he gave up on making more Excalibur shorts a decade ago...

Next up for this nostalgia thread, 2 more Starbase Studios productions to examine...(if anyone has aborted productions for me to examine here, sound off! I don't have that many left to go!)

To set the record straight, I'm in no way chastising the producers of these films for closing up shop, as I fully understand starting a project/production and halting it before the finish line since I have a few of those myself (not Trek, but regular films- some were stopped due to lack of money, writer's block, etc.)

My hope however, is to generate new interest in these, and who knows what could happen...
