box office

Certain folks have spent two years pissing on Gunn and his Superman movie at every single opportunity. So, yes there is a certain amount of giddy from the folks who decided to wait and give the film a chance and getting to see it perform well. Not because they dislike Man of Steel, but because they dislike the folks who are its most ardent supporters.

This isn't hard. I personally don't see it getting to $625 million, but it would be tasty if it hits that $670 million mark without robust international numbers.
I think it tops out somewhere above 600 million. Which is fine.

There's good to be said for MoS and even for Snyder's overlong reddit of JLA. There is nothing good to be said for the Snyderbois out on social media like YouTube and Twitter.

> Audiences clamoring for a proper MCU F4 for years
> Hire four of the most uninspired actors with zero chemistry to play beloved characters
> Change gender of Silver Surfer just because
> Introduce Franklin Richards in first reboot
> Make freaking Galactus a one-time weak-ass villain just like Kang and Ronan the Accuser
> Kill off Invisible Woman and bring her back to life just like the F4 from 2007
> Surprise-Pikachu-Face.jpg when movie bombs.
Aren't some of these Spoilers?

So, they treat Minecraft as not Summer, which I guess is technically true.

Movies don't bomb for failing to service trivial nerd expectations.

It does not matter what fandom you are part of, it’s possible to be too close to it to understand how everyone sees it. Or does not see it at all. Marvel had success at taking characters no one out of fandom knew and having huge successes. But clearly that does not always work. Nor does the Marvel Brand sell everything.

Sure the “sacred timeline” meaning Disney Marvel is separate from Sony, Fox, etc. But they’re still the same characters, faithful to source or not. Some people might have been bored by previous FF.

I am a biased DC guy but I never truly got why FF was special. Outside of being start of Marvel in the comics. But that means nothing to normal viewers. Especially when the movie universe has gotten along fine without them . The origin and powers are kind of generic. Certainly the code names. That the group is a family by birth or bond… has become almost a sci fi cliche. Star Trek and Star Trek, stuff I am not thinking. Every group on an adventure is a “family” now. Which is not bad at all. But adds to feeling of overtly familiar.

What crap?
Making horribly bad movies after already perfecting the formula for some of the best movies in terms of superhero fare.
Compare how good Captain Marvel was to The Marvels.
Captain America 3 to Captain America 4.
Thor 3 to Thor 4.
And the worst offender Dr Strange 1 to Dr Strange 2.

I haven't seen all of Brave New World, so I can't comment on that one, but I saw no dropoff in quality been any of those other movies. I thought The Marvels, Love and Thunder, and Multiverse of Madness were all great movies.

Your personal tastes aside the box office for all those movies paint a different picture.
