I think this is what you're looking for:

Thanks, I was pretty sure there were 2 doors up there but didn't have access to any images to check! They can also be spotted in certain TNG and VOY episodes, albeit very fleetingly! Sadly I cannot share any such examples, but I do have the VOY engine room setplan of the upper level and those 2 doors are clearly present:

Unfortunately, this doesn't help with the TWOK situation as Kirk runs in from the opposite side of the room from the 2 doors.

Yeah that is tricky to work out. A couple of possibilities...

As far as I know the starboard wall of the upper engineering was never shown on screen so you could imagine a door being there?

Or Kirk entered in from one of the aft entrances flanking the octagon on the upper level (visible in TMP) and ran over to the forward starboard-side where the cadets had gathered looking over the rail to see what was happening at the lower level. When he sees McCoy and Scotty by the dilithium room he then bumps the cadets out of the way to get to the aft starboard ladder to make his way down which is quicker than the 2 elevators. YMMV :)

Although my explanation upthread for Kirk's movements was pretty janky, I generally prefer simpler explanations wherever possible!
Can I have the unseen door please?

Come to think of it, was that wall EVER seen?
TNG reused that upper level with minimal changes, there's at least a small chance it snuck into shot at one point or other...

I've tried doing it with the free camera, but it won't let you go above the ceiling in either the ladder or the lift, and unlike the room in its TOS movie configuration, things around the warp core are too tight for you to scooch in there and float up.

edit: Is anyone else a little weirded out by the "mannequins" on the TNG/Farpoint Enterprise after the latest update? Is there a way to turn them off? On the one hand, yes, it doesn't make the room look as empty, but I think they're slightly creepy, and if you really wanted to sit at Ops or plop down in Riker's chair, those seats are taken. (The one room where it doesn't bother me is the TMP sickbay exam room, since they have that feature where you can run the body scanner.)

Are the characters only available on certain sets? I haven't tried really hard but I can't seem to get them to turn on on any of the TMP sets I've looked at.

I tried that to get to the Shuttlebay 2 control room in the 2370 Ent-D, but the same obstacle is there.

Yeah, just press K to disappear them. Feels like it should be the 'Q' key!

TMP sickbay definitely has them, in addition to all of the Season 1 TNG sets IIRC.

It worked! (I also can't believe I didn't notice the "toggle characters" command added to the control key in the bottom corner. D'oh!)

I love that there's a little shimmer effect the way there would be in-universe when a holodeck character is removed. In sickbay, it also has the hilarious side effect of leaving the doctor's data slate floating in mid-air.

I'm not sure if anyone already mentioned it, and I didn't grab a screenshot, but when I was checking out DS9 yesterday, all the chairs in the Infirmary had bounding-boxes around them. Maybe I caught someone mid-debug.

(I did notice there's a note about the reused computer screens on the BEY bridge, now. I think that might be another accuracy-versus-realism thing for RA to debate internally; on-set monitors used the old design of the ship, while ones that were added in post or were part of set-extensions had the revised BEY design).
