Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

A Microsoft employee is being blasted for using an AI-generated image (why is the screen on the back side of the monitor?) to promote that the graphics team is hiring right after the company had massive layoffs.

Must be all sunshine and roses over there

Still trying to find a job.... ANY job that I think I could do. Applied to my local Target. Holy crap, that's a long application. My college application was easier to fill out than this crap.

And the worst part? At the very end, just as I was feeling slightly hopeful, there it was-- that tiny box in the middle of the page.

"Are you over 45? Yes or No?"

....and that's another job I won't be getting.

You never know, they may need to fill more positions with people over 45.

Still, it sucks and that box should be illegal.

Are "porch goose" lawn ornaments really a thing? According to this article, they were popular in the 1980s and '90s and are now making a comeback. I guess I must have missed that trend. I do remember plastic lawn flamingos, though.

I read a joke today about someone's boyfriend being wrong most of the time because he's a meteorologist and it made me wonder what someone who actually studies meteors is called (because meteorologist is taken). Answer: They are called Meteoriticists. Meteoriticists are specialists in the field of meteoritics.
Now go out there and win that pub quiz!

Someone found a reason to make a product almost everyone can't use

Yesterday, I ordered some books from Amazon Market Place. All are standard delivery.

One arrived today - less than 15 hours after order - but it hasn't even been dispatched according to Amazon.

They can be like that. Sometimes orders come very fast and yet the webpage hasn't caught up.

Have had that happen here in Australia too with books and stuff expected by Friday of the same week arrive either on the Tuesday or Wednesday, yet still shows as shipping when you check online.

I know that if something is "Fulfilled By Amazon" and "same day" or "next day" delivery is offered then, if I opt for standard delivery, it'll still turn up the same or next day. This is the first time I've had something come directly from a seller so quickly though.
